hit up cherry creek reservoir today, perfect weatherβ€”partly cloudy and warm. got there early before the sun was fully up, around 5:40 am. used my go-to setup: a 7' medium action rod with a light spinning reel, 10lb test line. started tossing some topwater plugs and bam! first fish was a nice 4lb trout. kept at it and ended up with 5 more trout and a couple of smallmouth bass. they were hitting on anything that splashed on the surface. had a bit of wind to deal with, but no biggie. sun was really nice by the time we left around 2. oh and saw some folks catch a few carp too. great day on the water, can’t wait to go back!
