clear lake bass Fishing Report 2025

Hello everyone, Today we had a nice day of fishing. We checked out a few spots for nothing, trolled up a Wahoo, and found a dead Dolphin. The Dolphin was holding a sea of Dorado. It was as much as you wanted. The grade was slightly larger than the fish up north. Defiantly a bite to get our blood flowing after 2 days of driving. Hopefully we can find some more Wahoo tomorrow. We also caught a Sierra, a rare fish to catch on a long range boat, but very common in the Sea Of Cortez and closer to shore. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with the Coronado Island Report. We have had phenomenal fishing at the Coronado Islands for the past week now. Yesterday we had 217 Yellowtail 12 to 28 all of them the nice grade fish. Today we had 123 Yellowtail mixed grade. We had 90% good grade and 10% smaller grade. They are biting the fly-lined baits really well. They are also biting the Yo-yo really good too. Come on down to Seaforth Sportfishing and go fishing with us.

Strong south wind made things interesting today but we’re able to find a lucky kelp in the bottom of the ninth. We managed our quota of green dorado and 16 yellowtail.

Ryan Bostian called in to give this report for the San Diego. "I'm calling to give you guys the Coronado Island fish report. Today we went out with 52 passengers and we came back with 74 Yellowtail. Coronado Islands just keeps kick'in them out. 60% of our fish were 6 to 10 lbs, & 40% were 20 to 30 lbs. Come on out with us and enjoy a great time fishing. Today our 18 anglers bagged up 60 red rockcod 3 lingcod limits of Boccaccio as well as limits of rockfish. After some morning Santa Ana winds, the weather was absolutely gorgeous.

Ryan Bostian checked in to tell us what the San Diego is doing. "The kids are back in school and if you have been waiting for an opportunity to get on the boat, with a light load, this is definitely the time for you. The Coronado Island have had very good Yellowtail signs. It has been inconsistent. We see them one day, we don't see them the next. The bite one day, they don't bite the next.

"Rockfish make up most of the counts, they last couple of days. But we always keep our eye out for Yellowtail. I don't think this season is over by any means. The water is still very warm. There is plenty of 70 degree water around. Reports have Yellowfin tuna moving up the line and there are plenty of Bluefin around. The problem with the Bluefin is finding fish that want to bite. It is just like the Dorado. There are plenty of Dorado, they just are hesitant to bite.

"It seems like the ocean is in a transition. I expect to see some good counts in a week or so. Our reservations are very light.  We had a slow day.  And there's no sugar coating it.  There's no let's let you decide if it was slow.  It just was, and unfortunately for this trip we don't have another day to make it right.  There was a one hour window where if you were in the right place at that time and found a school you were in for a good bite but that was few and far between and unfortunately we weren't the few.  We scratched a little in the morning, found a dandy school before lunch that let us catch a few handfuls before swimming away, and we found a stretch of and area this afternoon that we thought we were going to make something happen, we found three kelps in a row with tuna on them but they would only boil around and not bite except for a few. 

 On the plus side our weather today was fantastic.  If you're going to have a slow day fishing, it's a whole lot better doing it in good weather than in bad weather.  I also saw alot more of San Clemente Island than I ever have before.  I now know more about the looks of the island itself and the bottom structure of it.  We're headed in now and we're turning around again tomorrow for 2 more days.

 And one last thing.  I'm not going to mention it because I only heard this second hand and I don't want to start a rumor if it's not true but a sport boat out here today caught a wahoo.  Now once again I'm not going to mention it, but one boat, maybe the Prowler caught a wahoo.  I'm not going to start a false rumor so I'm not saying anything.
