Polaris Supreme Trip Report 10-24-2019 We had another log jam today on the kelp patties. Another great day of fishing Wahoo and what a beautiful grade of fish! Some real beauties in their. They look more like alligators than Wahoo. They definitely act like alligators when you hook one. We also had a good hit on the yellowfin tuna again this afternoon. The grade of fish was more like 20 to 45 it wasn't all 45 pounders. But still a good grade of fish! Were finished up in the lower zone here and need to start working north. Stayed late today so we will probably only have a few hours of fishing tomorrow if any looking for some yellowtail up the coast. Weather is still epic. We also spent about a half hour today catching and releasing beautiful grade Dorado. We didn't keep any! Will check in with you tomorrow on our way home after a short try for yellowtail. 22 yellowtail, 65 calico bass, 1 bonito and 3 barracuda. Tony Brough and his charter group had good action fly lining sardines.

Another day of going toe to toe with Mike Tyson. When our corner finally threw in the towel we had 2 bluefin (135 & 85 lbs) and 4 yellowfin (25-30 lbs). If you do not own a 2 speed reel you can rent one from our landing before the trip.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-10-2019 Again we had another great weather day. Fishing was slower with just a little bit of quality. We got some nice grouper and Wahoo for the day. Spent a lot of time looking for a kelp with Dorado to no avail. Looks like we're going to have to make a move for tomorrow! The Polaris supreme crew!

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-15-2013

 

 

The majestic blood-red sunset that we experienced at the end of our day today was simply magnificent. I'm not exaggerating. Allow me to set the stage. We've been struggling to find the fish that we've been looking for in sufficient quantities over the past few days, but we found EXACTLY what the doctor had ordered earlier in the afternoon. One of the crew perched in the crow's nest spotted some bird activity around a floating object in the distance. We trolled past the inflated "gas bag", and soon the entire boat erupted in mayhem. Virtually every bait to hit the water was quickly inhaled by the voracious dorado residing near the flotsam. Once we put the hurt on those good-size flatheads, the wahoo started to bite. We did well. Real well. Anyway, back to the sunset. Visualize a full moon rising in the east, casting glimmering silhouettes on the slight chop, as the sun is setting in the west, lighting up the entire field of vision with a crimson glow. It was simply magnificent. We fished until darkness interrupted us.

"Red sky at night ..." . so of course we're looking forward to another beautiful day out here tomorrow, weather-wise. The fishing is merely icing on the cake. Speaking of cake ... dinner tonight is a braised German chicken dish. Gotta go, I'm hungry!

This is amazing we have fished 6 days out of 6 days. We fished 4 days in California and 2 days in Mexico and caught over half a dozen different game species. We wrapped up today in California fishing Bluefin and Yellowfin with good success. The top 3 fish at the scales will be bluefin. Thanks Tom Chaparro and gang for a great trip. Hi friends. Mother Nature is lovin' us right about now. She's given us an absolutely gorgeous ride as we make our final approach to home. It's not quite soft butter but it's a notch away from that. Word to your mama - Mama Nature. Anywho, we finished detailing out the engine room machinery and we can eat off of the floor of our heads (bathrooms); so what do we do now? Well, Drew fired up a cigar, took his shirt off and took a nap on the freezer, Jed, Gunny, Mark, Shawn and I started a poker tournament that Shawn ended up winning, and we basically just kicked it the rest of the day.

With that, it's time for another installment of "Polaris Supreme Movie Reviews!" "The Dark Knight Rises" was sick. "The Paperboy" was weird, but good. John Cusack is real creepy in that one. "Deadfall" was terrible. Not even Olivia Wilde could save that one, and last but not least, "That's My Boy" was quite possibly the best and worst movie I've ever seen. Probably the latter but there were some funny parts.

So that is all. Jeff unknowingly donated his Ipod for us to use as we keep on keepin' on up the line and we are just straight kickin' it. More good news, we've gained .5 knots! As of now, our ETA to Customs is sometime between 10:00 and 11:00 hours. If we weren't running so late and had some bait, I would've stopped on that breezer I just saw. Bluefin? Interesting (Not 15 minutes after typing this up, we saw another, up high and dry and we saw some big backs.) Anyhow, after arrival to Fisherman's Landing tomorrow, we'll be shutting the Supreme down for a month so the staff can celebrate Drew and Kristin's wedding reception and have plenty of time to recover. We're all pretty pumped for it, especially little Hard Hat Boy.

Mark has been working on his "dance" moves and I've given up all hope to try and help him. Picture this: I had Ke$ha's "Die Young" going and I'm pretty sure that he looked like a man riding an invisible mechanical bull--in slow-motion--with Tom's "Shark Shield" attached to it. That's right, he looked like a man riding a transparent bar bull in slow-motion while the said bull had electricity pulsating through it. Like I said, I had to quit helping to get him right and just sit back and watch Mark express himself through the art of "dance". It's going to be awesome!
