Labor day weekend caps off an excellent summer and also moves us into my favorite time of year. With water temperatures ranging from 70 to 74.5 this week was spent looking around offshore for kelp patties. On Wednesday we caught 82 yellowtail and a handfull of dorado. On Thursday we had a big day catching 108 yellowtail. Fridays fish count was 21 dorado and 16 yellowtail. Anybody who has spent any time at all fishing in San diego knows that September thru the end of November is a great time to fish. The kids are back in school , the weather is very nice and the exotics are in the area. With the Coronado islands still closed we will continue to fish offshore for yellowtail , dorado , bluefin tuna and albacore. This time of year the yellowfin tuna should show up sometime in the next few weeks. If your looking for lighter loads on the boats as well as the chance to catch an exotic fish. Tuesday Dec 4 looks to be the best weather window for those folks looking to fish with us.  If yellowtail are unavailable we will target cod in 180-400 ft.  Before anyone freaks out, this picture was taken a long time ago and was on a Comercial boat fishing in legal US waters.  Come prepared for yellowtail and bottom fish.

Captain Mike Pritchard checked in this afternoon with an update from the Tribute out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. We are currently on a 1.5 day trip with 10 anglers. We have limits of Bluefin Tuna (20) up to 70 pounds. We also have some Yellowtail too. The Tribute is ONLINE at Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA.

After a 5+ hour drift we pointed for home with 50 bluefin(20-60lbs) and 42 yellowfin(15-35lbs). Never know what we might see on the ocean. Bring rods to fish 20-40lb line and size 4-2/0 hooks.

Fishing today was somewhat subdued. We gave Guadalupe a check to see if the tuna have arrived without much luck. We picked up 5 yellow fin and spent most of the day rocked by home guard yellowtail. Our weather is gorgeous in the lei of the island. We will be back offshore tomorrow for some hot kelp patty action. It's first call for dinner tonight. Sauteed shrimp with tomato, garlic and parsley. Mike Pritchard called in with this report for the Tribute. "We're on the 1st day of a 3.5 day trip sponsored by Okuma, Soft Steel & Seeker. So far the fishing has been very good. We have 36 Bluefin for the morning, some Rockfish to go with it even token Cow Cod.

"We have a few spots open on a 5.5 Day trip departing on October 28th. That is an Ultra Limited Load, only 12 anglers & we're looking for 2 more to go on that trip. If you are interested call Seaforth Landing at 619-224-3383.

Capt Ryan checked in from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing to give us a report from todays 3/4 day trip, we fished the Corondo Islands today for 59 Yellowtail. Fishing seems like it has been good for the last year, we have a shot everyday fro some good fishing. We do have some down days as yesterday we only got 26 Yellowtail, we are finding plenty of schools with fish ranging from 10 to 30 lbs. When you come down make sure and bring a flyline rig, a yoyo rig and a surface iron setup. We have had some recent success recently with some days of getting up to 80+ Yellowtail. The fish are starting to rebound, so come on down and get in on the action. We depart everyday at 5:30 am, come on down and see us.
