The Tribute finished yesterday with 57 Yellowfin Tuna and 28 Bluefin Tuna for our 20 Angler’s on board. It was ridiculously nice weather!

One good stop made our trip. 58 yellowfin tuna 63 dorado as many skipjack as you wanted.

07-13-2013 Polaris Supreme Trip Update.

Wow What a great trip Drew and the boys had with Joe and Mal's gang. Good going guys! That was one of the most impresive catches of 40 to 50 pound Bluefin I have seen in a while. Oh ya thanks a lot for putting the pressure on us to produce more of the same for Billy Stephens Group. Just kidding we are looking forward to the challenge. The reports from the four boats in our group that fished the morning sounded just like the schoole Drew and the gang left bitting. It was full speed all morning. I don't think any of us are going to sleep well tonight. May be if we count Bluefin coming over the rail thet will help, or not. Going down for prime rib. sea ya tomorrow.

The old timers used to say “ wind from the south, fish close their mouth”. Today we had a brisk south wind all day and the yellowtail were a bit off. We saw plenty of fish and managed to land 83. Flylined baits and yo-yo jigs were the best today.

Funny. Right around this time every year I get an itching to fish the Coronados for big island yellows, and when I get an itch I scratch it! Captain Ryan Bostian skippers the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing running to the Coronados everyday, so nobody knows the islands better or fishes its waters more. Itchin' for some fishin' and with friday off I headed down to San Diego and jumped on board with 28 other anglers for a scheduled full day trip to the islands. We were at the Islands and fishing within two hours and it didn't take long before we were hanging and catching some quality fish. Huge bonito, nice calicos and barracuda paced the early action as Captain Ryan moved the San Diego from spot to spot looking for steady action and the elusive island yellows. We found good action throughout the day and starting hanging some yellows as well. Keith Hayashi landed the first yellow of the day on a sardine and we spent the rest of the afternoon picking off nice yellows on both bait and the iron. Big mean mossbacks in the 14 to 23 pound class. Nice fish !!! We ended the day with 9 yellows, 12 calicos, 19 barracuda and 44 bonito. Really nice day of surface fishing for everybody on board. The San Diego leaves every morning at 5:30 out of Seaforth Landing fishing the Coronado Islands. Captain Ryan and his crew will provide you with you're best opportunity to fish the pristine waters around the islands and possibly catch one of the nice mossbacks like we did today.  We spent today offshore mostly looking to top off on dorado.  There were 7 of us long range boats looking to do the same today.  There was plenty of this warm water for all though.  Unfortunately there wasn't enough kelps with fish on them for all.  We were one of the more lucky ones.  We didn't completely top off but we were only 20 fish shy.  Along with the dorado we caught some small tuna off a few spots.  3-5 pounders.  Now keep in mind most everyone on board have never fished out here in there lives.  When everyone on board hooked one of these tuna at once, it was great.  They were all so excited and they all just loved it.  Don't worry, I very much encouraged the release of these fish.  This was a great group of guys.  Great.  Super laid back and just enjoyed every minute out here.  Caught a bunch of colorful jumping dorado, lots of yellers and even a marlin.  I can't wait to have them back.  And you know it's true too because I usually don't write that.  I love all our passengers.

 Tomorrow we get in and leave again for just 2 days this time.  Hopefully we get out of there good and early and then et some fishing in tomorrow.  I have no idea what we'll do after that though.  Time will tell.
