Fun fishing out here! Kelp patty yellowtail, 20-30 lb bluefin and yellowfin tuna! 

We have even had some chances at bigger tuna in the 50-80 lb class.

Good evening and happy July to everyone. After not capturing a seabass last night, we shot offshore to try our hand at the tuna game. Nothing to write home about other than a beautiful 20 lb. Yellowtail that we pulled off a kelp. All we can do is remain confident that in time, things will take shape and we'll be ready for those tunas' when they quit being pansies and show themselves. After more driving around we made a move to the inside to do some bonding at the Banda Bank and we managed to entice some tasty critters to latch on to our hooks. It wasn't too great of a bite but we tagged some excellent table fare for the gang to take home.

As the sun began to set, we gave the seabass game another try, this time more southerly than last nights spot and just like last night, we were unsuccessful in the game. We had plenty of squid and had enough around us that we thought we could hook a couple croakers, but it never happened. All in all, it was a slow trip at times but we made the best out of the situation and put our passengers on some action. The group Garth brought out from Optima Networks and other various outlets were a pleasure to have on-board and we look forward to seeing them back in the future.

On a side note, we here at the Polaris Supreme would like to welcome back Chef Barry Benson to the team. Barry was diagnosed with throat cancer last year and with many treatments during the winter, Barry is back with us and better than ever. I've personally known Barry since 2000, when I was a chubby little 14 year old working together on the Holiday. He's a good friend of mine and I along with the rest of the crew are all thrilled that he's back and even more thrilled that he's recovered from his battle with cancer. He's missed being on the water and he's looking forward to many more adventures on the Polaris Supreme with all the fine people that we've come to share the rail with over the years.

That is all. We'll arrive at Fisherman's Landing tomorrow morning at 0600 in the morning and we'll be back out on Thursday for back to back three day trips. We'll report to you then, enjoy your weekends.

Hi friends. We departed Fisherman's Landing Thursday evening on our inaugural Optima 1 1/2 charter. We topped off on sardines and made a hard right turn coming out of the bay to go try our hand at some local White Seabass action. We gave it a shot and even with some live squid we were unsuccessful in hooking one. Since the distance to the local tuna grounds is close to home we decided to play around in the evening hours do some seabass fishing before we left for the tuna grounds.

That's what's going on. No seabass and we'll be trying our hand on the local grounds for some Bluefin tuna. Our weather is fine and the boys are very excited to do some tuna fishing. Wish us luck.

Where'd they go?? We got a few wahoo today, but nothing like yesterday. Our day consisted of scratching away at yellowfin, yellowtail, pargo, dorado, and wahoo on some different spots. Don't get me wrong. It was not a bad day fishing, just not like yesterday. Our weather is still good. Actually it's too hot, the water is 83 degrees. Not bad for the fish, but warm for us. Tomorrow we will be off shore kelping for wahoo, dorado and tuna until it's time to head home and wind up this fantastic trip. It's going to be a great fall season. Thanks for checking in.  Holy moly was it hot and humid today.  Starting today early the sweat was on.  My mom brought the little one down and the poor little girl was sweating worse than me.  She probably doesn't care though.    We left on our annual Bogart 2 day trip.  So we fished a little this afternoon and we'll fish tomorrow.  We got a couple tanks of anchovy today with just a few sardine mixed in.  We have a bit of mackerel left over that we'll use.  We fished for yellows this afternoon.  We reached the honey hole at 4:00.  Of course conditions did a complete 180.  Current wise.  The water was still blue and warm but the current was opposite to what the yellers have enjoyed here as of late.  So we saw no sign of yellowtail.  After a couple anchor jobs we gave up on them and anchored in tight to the kelp and we caught some assorted rockfish and bass and such.  Now we're headed out to who knows where.  I have a couple places in mind.  I'm going to wait and here the evening reports from the other boats before deciding.

 There is a few things as of late I wanted to tell y'all about that I forgot to.  I finally saw the green flash!  Kind of cool I guess.  I wasn't looking for it this time.  Maybe that's the ticket.  I just happened to look over and poof, the sun turned green for a flash.  The lightening show the other night was amazing.  Especially the part I missed while I was in bed sleeping.  And we saw a wave cloud I think.  I think it was a wave cloud.  It looked like a wave rolling through.  Or a side ways tornado.  There was 0 wind, and all the sudden that thing came through and it got super windy but just for 30 seconds or less and then it was gone and the wind went back to 0.  Pretty cool I thought.  Done.
     

Polaris Supreme Report 07-25-2016 Hey everyone, Another beautiful day out here on the offshore waters of northern Baja. Today we searched for kelp patties, breeezers, and bird schools. We did very well finding kelp, however it just doesn't seem that the large volume of fish has moved in on them yet. Hopefully soon! Later in the afternoon we found a nice temp break that lead some exotic Dorado and Yellowtail, even a Sea Turtle popped got in on the action. The yellows were large and healthy, and the Dorado were a welcome sight and hopefully a good precursor to the warm water fish months ahead. Tomorrow we will be fishing for big yellowtail and maybe a seabass or two Wish us luck! Team Supreme

Mike Pritchard called in with this report from the Tribute. "We had a little bit of the choppy weather hear today. We have a little over 50 mixed fish. So far we have caught some Dorado with Bluefin mixed in. We still have plenty of daylight left and we're hoping to pull in some more Bluefin. We'll keep you posted as the day progresses.
