big thompson Fishing Report 2024

Hello Everyone, Today we spent the day looking for kelps. The weather was windy with a lot of white caps. Through the chop we managed to find some kelps holding some Dorado. Never found the kelp with the mother load, but we were still able to scrape together some fish. Although choppy weather, the anglers still managed to have a great time during their annual Solex contracting 1.5 day charter. We look forward to next year guy! Back out for 2 days tomorrow. These yellowtail are keeping us on our toes ! After two slow mornings in a row, we decided to start our trip out fishing sandbass. While we were catching bass for our mostly beginner group we got the word that the yellowtail were biting a little bit. After running the 12 miles to get in position we managed to land 15 yellows. These fish are 15-25 lbs. and extremely mean.

Please bring a 30 lb. rod to fly line sardines if you are coming out with us. Tomorrow we have a private charter but will be back to our open party run on Sunday. I will check back tomorrow.

This past week was spent offshore catching yellowtail and waiting for the bio-mass of yellowfin tuna to move within our range. On Wednesday we started to see the first sign of tuna in our area and caught 8 yellowfin and 5 bluefin. Thursday and Friday we only caught 2 yellowfin but the yellowtail fishing was phenomenal . Thursdays passengers caught full Mexican limits of yellows in the 7-11 lb. range. On Saturday Capt. Ray had a very good day as he caught 1 yellowfin 1 albacore and 82 yellowtail. On Saturday we also had a couple other 3/4 day boats out of Seaforth connect with a few tuna. All and all I am very excited to see what October brings. We had another tropical storm down south which should bring some more warm water up. This could be a very special October so don't put your fishing gear away yet!

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 08-07-2019 We spent the day today looking for kelp patties that might be loaded with Dorado Wahoo and Yellowfin Tuna or Yellowtail. It didn't work out! This pretty much winds up the trip for us. Today was a bust fishing wise but the dinner was a bonus! Roger cooked up pork Oso Buco and Cheese Orzo. It was absolutely delicious! Tomorrow we will be traveling up cleaning the boat headed back to San Diego for a Friday arrival. Here is a few photos from yesterday that deserve posting.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-10-2019 Again we had another great weather day. Fishing was slower with just a little bit of quality. We got some nice grouper and Wahoo for the day. Spent a lot of time looking for a kelp with Dorado to no avail. Looks like we're going to have to make a move for tomorrow! The Polaris supreme crew!

Hello everyone We just wrapped up another successful Simpatico five day charter put on by Vernon Burke. A great group of anglers who know how to fish hard and have fun on their five days of fishing vacation! It was a great trip this five day, we committed to big fish as opposed to big numbers. Some nice bluefin in the 60-90 lb class, the fish that were caught were the biggest these gentlemen have ever caught in their lives. The triumphs and defeats were spread pretty evenly but everyone had their chance at several quality Blufin of a lifetime! Hello everyone, Today we disembarked on our annual Holeman 10 day trip.It was great to see some familiar faces again. We loaded up on some perfect sardines and were on our way. Pointed south, we spent the day preparing tackle and settling in nicely. Also, the foretasted weather couldn't be any better as we make our two day journey down to the fishing grounds. We plan to finish up our fishing preparation tomorrow. With great company and great food from chef Mike, today was another day in paradise. Will report tomorrow, Team Supreme

What a brutally slow morning. We drove around until 2 pm. and had only released one 190 lb., and four 50 lb. tuna. It was beginning to look like we were going to miss. Then we found the boomer sonar school of cows. They bit full speed, eight going at a time for two hours before they slowed down. Here is the result of those two hours. Scott released a 185 lb., and kept a 180 lb., 187 lb., and 231 pounder. Bob released a 180 lb., and kept a 210 pounder. Al released a 170 lb., and kept a 210 lb., and a 211 lb. tuna. Craig released a 170 lb. and a 185 lb. tuna. Roger kept a 160 lb., 170 lb., and 180 pounder. Sheridan released a 180 lb., 185 lb., and kept a 187 lb. tuna. Tom released a 175 lb., 195 lb., and kept a 228 pounder. George released a 180 lb., 190 lb., and kept a 213 pounder. So what was a bad day turned into an awesome day in just two hours. It was so fun. We had to hang up our jock straps and sun visors today and change into warmer apparel. It was a little cool, breezy, and started to get choppy late. Lunch was stuffed bell peppers with marinara sauce. Hors d'oeuvres were sushi, sashimi and corn dogs. Dinner was New York steaks. One more day to fish.
