Good evening everyone. We departed earlier this evening for our second annual Optima charter with Garth and his best of buddies. We loaded up on some bait that doesn't look all that stellar but maybe after it settles down, they'll turn into some champions. Anyhow, we're on our way down to try our hand at some Bluefin tuna offshore and some Yellowtail on kelps. Apparently, the Yellowtail are growing a little bit, if you can locate the right kelp as one of our code boats did, and caught some 'tails in the 15-22 lb. range. Regardless, we'll be looking first thing tomorrow morning and we'll try to make a day of it. Our weather is beautiful and we're looking for more. Wish us luck.
36 passengers on todays adventure with a catch of 43 yellowtail and 53 bonito. We had a couple of short opportunities today.
30 pass. 12 yellowtail 4 yellowfin tuna 2 dorado. Decent yellowfin sign but they were difficult to hook. Light line and small hook was the best chance. We also managed 2 dorado. Canβt say I have ever seen dorado in 66 degree water but nothing is normal anymore.

The ball stopped rolling for us today. We got it rolling briefly but then it hit a hill again. We started where we left off last night. We weren't alone. We just weren't seeing the schools on the edge of the fleet so we mosied our way up to the next area and we were late to that party. So again we mosied our way up and at 1:30 we were still skunked. We got off on our own and then finally spotted a breezer up and got on it and it bit pretty well for a while. We caught 50, mostly the good grade yellowfin before they quit biting. After that we really didn't see much for the rest of the day. It was our day today. Hopefully we can turn it around tomorrow.
If you think about it though, the fish we caught yesterday were free, so if you add it to what we caught today, we had a stellar day. I like to think of it like that.
We're going to try to catch some bait tonight. We have enough for tomorrow, but if we have a good day like I expect, we may be out of position to catch bait the following night so we're going to try and get it done tonight.
Epic fishing is here once again! 10 cows hit the deck, topped with a 307!! Thanks United Composites, Okuma, Phenix Rods, and Seeker for outfitting us with what I think are the best on the market if your looking for cow gear. Now these days I should say super cow gear!!! Not to forget owner hooks!#okuma #phenixrods #unitedcomposites #seekerrods
Fishing reports for arkanglers are updated each week, usually by Thursday morning. The reports are compiled by an outside contractor who receives the information from bait shops, marinas and fishing guides.
