arizona fly Fishing Report 2025

Fishing today was absolutely fantastic. The morning started out slow. We were scratching on the anchor. We thought we were in for another slow day. But we made a move to a new area and had some phenomenal fishing on some nice grade yellowtail. Beautiful average of about 22 lbs or so. We were fishing with a porpoise school and sharks.

Lots of surface iron. Lots of action. Weather is good. Nice and sunny in the afternoon. Tomorrow we'll be be looking for some cow yellowtail.

59 bluefin 37 yellowfin. Quite a few bites on the 30-40lb flylined baits today. Sinker rigs, colt snipers and flat falls still getting plenty of action.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 10-20-2019 The Polaris Supreme arrived nice and early yesterday with the AHI Charter unloading a beautiful catch from down south plenty of Wahoo beautiful grade Tuna and Dorado! We were able to get out nice and early on our eight day open party trip with a fun group of regulars. Our traveling down was good yesterday as well as it is today. Of course the usual seminar on tackle and technique with a lot of rigging napping and eating some good food is going down today. Because of our early departure and making good speed we should be into the fishing grounds at a good hour tomorrow. Things sound a little scratchy at the moment but it looks like it has good potential for improvement. That's all for now we will check in with you tomorrow after hopefully a good day of fishing. Hello Everyone, We had a nice day of travel today. Mainly rigged up and took care of some chores. The guys were able to wet a line once today on a single kelp. There was a lot of Dorado on the kelp but none wanted to bite. However we did land a nice Yellowtail. We will be on the hunt for more Yellows in the morning. Will report again tomorrow, Team Supreme

Friday 2-day trip July 6

Good Morning Anglers!

I've been keeping in touch with Art on the Searcher the last three days. He's been fishing bluefin at 160 miles on his four day trip with great success! Sunday with over 100 bluefin. Monday he had 55 bluefin. That day another boat fished with him traveling down and got 80 bluefin. This morning at 8:00 the Searcher already had 15 bluefin.

The grade of this fish is 20-30 lbs. and occasionally somebody gets on the 90 lb. grade. So don't forget a 50lb. 2-speed reel for that class.

We offer free loaner gear if you need it. Their weather has been good.

The weather forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday is 5-10 knots. You can follow the weather on Passageweather.com. Also a big bonus on Saturday will be our Sportfishing Association spotter plane to put us on kelps and schools of bluefin. The *POLARIS SUPREME* two day trip departing this Friday at 1pm in the afternoon is set up to target this fish at that distance. We will be able to fish Saturday from the crack, 5am till dark, 8pm. Thus having a full day in this area and returning at 11am on Sunday.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 8-2-2017 Well I did find some photos of Tom Chaparros trip. One of the crew took a dozen pictures on his cell phone while he was running around working! As well as thinking Tom and the gang for a great fun filled trip I would like to extend a special thanks to Herb Yamanaka for bringing custom-made solid wood bowls to give out to all of the anglers and crew on the trip. Herb does this every year and the workmanship of his gifts are absolutely superb! Thank you Herb Tom and gang for a fun six days the Polaris supreme crew!

Captain Mike Pritchard checked back in at 11:27 AM. We have been having tough conditions. We just landed a Bluefin Tuna that taped out at 133 pounds. We have nine fish on board. We have had a lot of lost fish. Getting them on the boat has proven to be difficult. Be sure to bring your heavy tackle. I would suggest 30#, 40#, 50# and 80$ outfits. Polaris Supreme Trip Update

After yesterday's tough day the pressure was on to find a school. Upon entering the warm water pocket it wasn't but a few minutes until Tommy came across a school and the lines went out. The bite started out slow then became consistent on those larger yellowfin. After a while the bluefin filled in and the bite matured into a plunker lasting through lunch. Several dorado added color to the mix and then it was trolling lines out as we went searching for another school. Single strikes on tuna and dorado was all we could produce for the rest of the day. These tuna are coming up gorged on small squid, so they must be feeding down deep and occasionally popping up to the surface. Tomorrow it looks like the weather will be on our side, and perhaps the fish gods will smile on us as well.
