PLUN•KER (Adjective) A stop that takes up most or all of your day. Not wide open, however 1-10 fish are always hooked. *A PLUN•KER would be impossible without the best live bait operation in the world. **Anglers that succeed in a PLUN•KER usually listen and take advice well. ***A PLUN•KER is also impossible without an amazing crew. Today’s PLUN•KER produced 123 yellowfin 18 bluefin.

Our first day of Larry Brown's fathers day 5 day trip was spent offshore hunting the elusive albacore and blue fin tuna. We came up short. Although we were in good water most of the day, we did not find any tuna at all. Much travel needed to be done today to put us in position for our day tomorrow. Weather is good.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-27-2016 Thanks again for checking in. We arrived nice and early to the tuna grounds to get ourselves in the best position for the days work. Shortly after first light we decided where we wanted to get things going. It started off quite slow as the conditions weren't just right. We lacked current which is not favorable to catching fish so it became a little bit of a waiting game. That gave Chef Mike his time to get breakfast out of the way. Not too long after we got mobile and did some looking around and finally started checking out some different schools and began scratching away at a few bluefin. They were in the 18 lb class which is not bad at all. As the day progressed, we found the spot that looked the best and posted up, getting a solid chum line going, got the balloons out and settled in. The fish slowly started popping up with some bluefin in the 70 lb class hitting the deck as well as Marilyn landing her first ever balloon fish and first yellowfin at about 70 lbs. Congrats on that one!! The rest of the afternoon was a steady pick on that beautiful grade of tuna. You couldn't ask for a better way to end a 3 day trip. As soon as we landed our last 2 nice bluefin, one being Theresa's 75 lb "dream fish", it was time to pack it up and head home for San Diego. Cold and crisp. All you want Yellowtail and had a shot at huge Bluefin, yet no bite! We kept enough Yellowtail for dinner with friends and family and released a bunch

11 pass. 2 yellowtail 53 calico bass and plenty of whitefish and rockfish. Extremely light load for tomorrow.

Hi all my fishing friends:

We are having a great season. The blue fin have been biting mixed with yellow fin and even a smattering of albacore. I have some great opportunities to get out on the Apollo with me and enjoy the great weather and great fishing that we've been having this season.

We have two two day charters that needs anglers. The first two day trip departs Thursday 9/13 at 9 p.m. fishing Friday 9/14 and Sat. 9/15. This trip is limited to 18 passengers. Cost is $650 per angler and includes food and permits. This is a great opportunity to fish on an ultra limited charter with a great group of people. Please contact Dan H. @ 310.704.1497

Another opportunity to fish aboard the Apollo with us has opened up. This is a 2 day trip that fishes September 27-28 (departing the night of the 26th). This outing is limited to 16 anglers.

The unusual part of this trip is half the anglers will be fly fishers. If you conventional fish, this means you get the stern to yourself as fly rodders like the sideways drift of the boat and stay on the windward side on the bow. Fly rodders are the first in on the slide but based on past averages, conventional will still out-fish us 5 to 1. The trip is 670.00 and includes fishing permit, bunk and food. Sept. 28

Another beautiful day on the Polaris Supreme. Nothing to report really other then great weather, great food and great company. Today we did our wahoo seminar, some light rigging of tackle, and a lot of good old fashioned relaxation. There were some naps, some reading, and a cocktail hour or two and I smelled and partook in some cigar smoking. Mmm, mmm, mmm. We did a little bit of trolling for not much. A couple small tuna not worth keeping and Brian caught Jody a nice dorado. After dinner we made a few drifts for giant squid for not much. We caught some but we want more so we'll try again tomorrow night. Until then we will do more of the same that you read above while we travel down.

 So we did it again.  We had a nice day.  Arrive/depart day.  Once again, we got out here at a good time and connected on a couple of schools.  We ended our day with 81 tuna.  And they're still that good grade.  25 pound average.  So nice.  Free ones.  Departure fish.  I told everyone to bring there horse shoes and rabbits feet.  I think they did.

 The bait thing went better than expected.  It wasn't Armageddon like I thought it may be.  We used 1/2 the bait I thought would croak and the rest hasn't had any die off yet.  Now we just need our main slammer of bait to hang in there.  The only thing is we didn't get a full load of bait so we may need to catch some down the line.  At least I hope that's the only thing.  Time will tell Joe.  Time will tell.

 We're going to drift here tonight.  It literally feels like we're anchored in the bay right now.  It's so nice.  We'll start here in the morning and try to do it again.  Let's keep the ball rolling.
