up north Fishing Report 2025

Yesterday morning we had some good fishing and the albacore and some great fishing on the yellowtail. Midday we got a nice round on the bluefin and late in the day we were back with the albacore biting full speed. It was a fantastic day. Weather was good and is still nice today. This morning we had a nice hit on the albacore. We have had some requests in the office to post the meals we serve on board, so we'll start putting some of that information on as well. Last night Chef Pedro served a wonderful duck breast fillet served in natural pan sauce. It was excellent. The night before we dined on salmon with a lemon, butter caper sauce. Also very tasty.

Some of our lunches on this trip were pork carnitas, with all the toppings and sides, and one day we had chicken marinara with pasta. Food and fishing is excellent! Paul Hess's group has also been excellent.

We will be into the dock tomorrow morning at 6am.

115 yellowfin tuna 98 skipjack tuna. 80 of our yellowfin were 18-30 lbs. the rest were 10 pounders. The skipjack are extra large. Please bring a 25 lb rod and a 40 or 50 lb rod. Size #2 hooks for your 25 lb rod and size #1 for your 40 or 50 lb rod.

Just what we had hoped for! We had a really fun day on some of the bigger grade yellowfin. We landed nine fish over 100 pounds. Charlie got one at 213 lbs. and Gunnar, one of our first timers got the biggest one for the day that weighed in at 230 lbs. He did it all by himself from start to finish. And by the way, he is only eleven years old. He also landed another one that was well over 100 lbs. Our weather is fantastic. Dinner was incredible. Pedro laid out another killer sashimi and sushi appetizer and followed up with a dinner of fresh yellowtail with a Chardonnay, lemon, shallot sauce. Richie said it was probably the best fish dish he has ever had. We are hoping for another fun day tomorrow. Wish us luck. Thanks for checking in.

Be sure to take dad our Bluefin Tuna fishing this Father’s Day. Nothing better than fishing with dad!

After a couple of slow days for the fleet we decided to go out on a search mission. Our morning was spent chasing 30 lb bluefin that we’re very difficult to hook. Around 12:30 our sonar lit up with the sweet sound of shallow, spread out yellowfin tuna. After 3 1/2 hours and ten short stops. Our 30 anglers were able to drop 123 yellowfin and 1 bluefin into the refrigerated Sea Water. Best success came on flyline bait on 25-40 lb, colt snipers and poppers. We will continue to fish offshore and target whatever we see.

RECENT NEWS!!! I WILL BE PUTTING SOME MORE OPEN PARTY TRIPS ON THE APOLLO. These trips will be limited to only 20 people. Can you imagine a boat like the Apollo with only 20 people or less every day. I will be running Saturday and Sunday the 10th and 11th. I'll be fishing the northern Channel Islands for rock fish, lingcod and potentially Sea Bass and Halibut. Capt Ryan called in from the San Diego, they wanted everyone to know the are still fishing offshore. Today we ended the day with 105 Yellowfin Tuna and a handful of Dorado, a few Yellowtail. The fishing is still great down here, we need a few more to make tomorrows trip a go, our loads are light and the weather and the water is perfect.
