trinidad Fishing Report 2025

We had fantastic fishing on 15 pound dorado, but we released almost all of them. This is a great group with OTR (Ocean Tackle Research) and Lon Mikkleson. They enjoy hook and release. The weather is good. Chef Pedro made a superb veal piccata for dinner and it was served with a really good homemade cream of asparagus soup.

Good eveing friends. Checking in from the bridge in between dinner calls. We started the day shut down on on a few fish marks to see if we could get something to build up and hooked a couple of small grade yellowfin, but it just wasn't the right kind so it was time to pack up and go looking. Shortly after a couple released tuna, we got mobile we swung by a few tuna pens and they didn't really produce. A lot of small yellowfin and aquarium size yellowtail with a couple nicer 25 lb tuna to put a tag on. Too bad a couple hundred more of his buddies weren't tagging a long with him. Tommy got up with me this morning at about 0245 and got busy downloading some awesome water charts that way we could map out our playground for the day. Not much luck at the pens, so off to kelping we went before we started working some warm water edges. We just couldn't seem to find the big boomer that was loaded or catch that school that was out there roaming around. The ocean is a pretty big place when you're out there by yourself. You have your great days along with the slow ones and today it was just one of the slow ones. The guys really hung in there and fished hard though. Charter Master Joe Gigliotti got busy like the Italian he is and cranked out about a dozen handmade pizzas for lunch that were second to none! Every year that's one thing we really look forward to on his trip is the pizza's. He brings all of the ingredients with him and certainly rivals any pizza place that I've been to!

I do have to add, for all of you Mark "The Crow" Clark fans, we actually got him to not say one word all the way through dinner last night. He actually had to use a note pad to communicate! Quite the sight I must say, but today it was back to business as usual...Caw Caw Caw. Keeping the passengers laughing and giving his illegitiment father Kub and Uncle Joe Beck and hard time as always. So tommorrow we're gonna wrap up the trip in the bluefin grounds and I have a feeling it's gonna be game on. Time to get nasty and end with a bang. Drew has to sport the lucky 7-11 hat, Gunny will be in all blue as he always is when we get 'em and Mark, he'll still be talking. Time to shut out the lights and enjoy first watch. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-11-2016 Hello Everyone, Today we departed on our annual Ron Heil 5 day. The longest running charter on the Polaris Supreme! We are excited and proud to keep the tradition going. We cleared the point today at 1 pm headed south in search of fish willing and eager to bite. We will be in the zone tomorrow. Good evening to all readers. We're fishing the second annual Bogart Construction short range trip. We departed this evening around four, got some bait and are currently serving our beautiful cuts of the prime rib as I write this. We'll fish all day tomorrow and head it back for home on yet another turn around. It sounds like it was a down day today in the offshore grounds with not so good of weather so we're glad we were at the dock today. Tomorrows forecast shows the wind backing off and with that hopefully the fish float. We'll see.

We departed today on Lon Mikkleson's annual, limited load 10-day charter. We loaded up some great looking bait while Pedro prepared a delicious pork tenderloin for lunch. The weather is slick, flat calm and the our anglers and crew both are excited about the upcoming prospects. The passengers are preparing their gear and for dinner Pedro put out a yummy lobster and rack of lamb dinner. We will keep you posted.
