Rosemont Media private charter brought out 21 passengers and they “made them pay”. They landed limits of yellowfin before noon. We recommend having a rod to fish 30-50lb test when the tuna are eating everything in the water.

June 30

We tried our hand at the elusive White Sea Bass today and that's exactly what they were. Elusive. We didn't see the life we were expecting to see. We covered a lot of ground today looking for them but we never found them. We caught some trophy calico bass at one spot and we tried and checked a couple traditional yellowtail hot spots for nothing. One plus thing about today for me is we fished most the day where I have never fished before in my 13 full seasons on this boat. Now I know why. The day wasn't a total loss though. We found an area that had a huge bird school in it but it went down by the time we got there but we know the conditions were much improved from a week ago so maybe tomorrow they'll be hitting. We may have just got there too late. With about an hour left of day light we hit a spot of those big big yellows and we caught quite a few of those before our day ended. And last but not least we ended with a 20ish pound seabass and a 20ish pound halibut. We will stay the night and try it where we are in the morning. It's good sleeping weather where we are. I may be sleeping with my thumb in my mouth tonight.

 Good morning to you all from over here on the Polaris Supreme. As I write this I'm on watch at 2:40 in the am. We arrived from our 4 day "Let's Talk Hook Up" trip this morning and as soon as the RP was out of our way we off loaded a beautiful catch of yellowfin and 30-40 pound Bluefin. Jackpots went 96, 68, and 43 I think it was. Close enough. We did a super fast turn around. We smoked team galley that's for sure. Things at the bait receivers went well and we were back at it again yellowfinin it. It wasn't some crazy start like it had been lately but judging by some of the counts we were hearing we were very happy with what we got. We got spoiled these last few days with the power counts out here that when things got back to normal, which is still good, it seems slow. We ended up with a couple rounds of mostly the upper grade of yft and we're currently drifting in lovely sea conditions and we're ready to go at it again tomorrow.

 Tommy is back out here with us so in a way, it's like having a trip off. I'm not stuck here in the wheel house all day thinking of my next move. I spend lots of time down hanging with the customers and being a goof ball with Mark. I love running the boat but like I said, sometimes it's nice not to have to think so much out here. We have to fill this Oct 5-day. All season long I here everyone asking how they can get on one of our 10 passenger Guadelupe trips. Well here it is. I have 2 spots open on what is really a 5.5 day trip to Guadelupe with only 10 people on the Apollo. The trip departs on the morning of Oct 1rst at 9am. and returns mid morning on the 6th. $1800 covers all meals and permits. This trip is a charter and if you are a part of it now chances are you'll be invited on many other trips with this group in the future. The Apollo had another successful overnight trip up the coast. They had limits of rockfish. The weather is great and they will be fishing the island tomorrow.

POLARIS SUPREME TRIP REPORT 09-16-2020 We had a good morning on good grade tuna, spent mid day catching small to medium grade yellowtail and the afternoon scratching away at the good grade tuna. Our weather is a little windy today! We miss our calm seas! Trying for tuna tomorrow! The Polaris Supreme Crew! P.S. Sorry no tuna pics. too busy during the bite. 108 yellowfin 27 skipjack. These tuna stops have been going from boredom to chaos in a matter of seconds. Knowing how to tie your own hook and leader, having your own pair of pliers, and listening to the crew and making slight adjustments during the stop will keep you in the game. We recommend taking some time before you come out or on the way to the fishing grounds to practice tying on your hook/leader. Our crew members can inspect and show you the right way to do it so when we’re in a hot bite you’re ready for action.

Hey guys:

I'd like to check in and give you guys a recap of our last week at the Coronado Islands as well as prepare you for what you can expect this week. This is the time of year when surface fish are the target species. Yellowtail , barracuda , calico bass , sandbass and white seabass are all on the menu right now. Most of our trips last week we caught between 5-15 yellows 50-150 barracuda and 30-70 calico bass. An area of squid has moved into the island area and some of our trips have started out jigging live squid to use for bait. Squid jigs will be provided by the boat if we decide to stop for squid. Having the live squid opens up a few more options for us.

I want to give you guys a list of rods and reels you should bring out this time of year. One 15 lb. rod with a bass rod and reel like a Calcutta or curado for fishing anchovies and plastics for calico bass and sandbass. One 25 lb. or 30 lb. rod for fly lining sardines . One 30 lb. rod for fishing a live squid with a small sliding egg sinker. The fourth outfit is optional and it is a 40 lb. jig stick for fishing the surface iron.

While everyday is different on the ocean and we need to be prepared for a variety of fish this time of year. These 4 outfits will have you prepared. A wise man once told me " the definition of luck is when preparation and opportunity collide".
