sf Fishing Report 2025

Today was mainly a travel day. We have a strong current working against us so we only had time for a couple drifts. However we did manage to land some 15 lb Yellowtail bottom fish. Our ETA for tomorrow is 530 to the dock.

 We had a slow day today.  The morning seemed promising.  We caught a little but we saw a whole lot.  If just one of those schools we saw this morning wanted to bite a little we would of had a great day.  That seems to be the deal this year though.  Today, we hit the wrong schools.  We caught about 20 ish this morning from 30-50 pounds.  The afternoon stunk.  We ran in to where we finished up last night and it was muerto.  We ended up in an area late that had mucho fish but unfortunately they were all small.  We didn't even try them.  It wasn't worth wasting our precious sardine for. 

 The good news about not catching much fish this afternoon is we still have some of a tank of sardine left to fish with this morning.  It's 4:00 AM as I write this and we just finished up with our attempt at bait making.  We caught plenty of bait, but it wasn't a good size for the tuna that's out here so we're going to try and make some lemonade here.  We're going to take our big spanish mackerel and take it to where the 150+ pound bluefin live.  We'll do this after we run out of sardine this morning.  No one has tried that cow BF with a couple tanks of spanish yet.  Maybe that's the key to it all.

 The weather remains great.  We had a few hours this afternoon where things were getting interesting.  We had a descently strong wind out of the southeast and with it came some rain.  It wasn't all that neat but it didn't last long.  Things went back to butter.  Nice.

Hello Everyone, We just wrapped up our open two day trip. Local fishing has been really tough and was no exception on this trip. We hustled, got the boat ready and departed from San Diego quickly, so we could maximize our fishing time on this two day adventure. Although we got on the grounds very quickly and were fishing fast, it still was tough. There was a lot of searching, scouring, and moving around to try and find some action. Our persistence eventually paid off when we found a couple kelp pattys with some great Yellowtail fishing. It was wall to wall action. Just what the doctor ordered. Everyone had a chance to pull on fish and get introduced to the chaos that is offshore kelp patty fishing. Through the intense action we also managed to land a beautiful Dorado, that would later take jackpot. A very trying couple of days, however we did manage to piece together some great action for our anglers. Looking forward to next year! We depart on our Emerson and friends 5 day next! Hello everyone, Today we had a nice day of fishing. We checked out a few spots for nothing, trolled up a Wahoo, and found a dead Dolphin. The Dolphin was holding a sea of Dorado. It was as much as you wanted. The grade was slightly larger than the fish up north. Defiantly a bite to get our blood flowing after 2 days of driving. Hopefully we can find some more Wahoo tomorrow. We also caught a Sierra, a rare fish to catch on a long range boat, but very common in the Sea Of Cortez and closer to shore. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Larry Brown chartermastered a 976 TUNA father-son five-day trip aboard Polaris Supreme with skipper Drew Henderson. The expedition returned to Fisherman's Landing June 21. The trip produced a remarkable catch of yellowtail that included some halibut, three bluefin and two albacore.
Brown said the yellowtail fishing at Cedros Island was excellent, though seals created some problems. "The weather was good except the wind came up on the last day, when we fished outside," he said.

The jackpot lineup was most unusual: an opah, a white seabass and a yellowtail. Mark Taylor of Jamul got the first-place, 67.2-pound moonfish or opah, on a sardine-colored Mega Bait jig, with 40-pound Big Game line on a Trinidad 30 reel and a Seeker 6470 Black Steel rod.
Rick Parks of Watsonville won second place for a 54.6-pound white seabass that took his sardine on a dropper loop. Alex Bravo of San Diego won third place for a 47.2-pound yellowtail.
The kid's jackpot featured two yellowtail bracketing a bluefin tuna. Alex Bravo Jr. of San Diego, 14, won first place for a 42.6-pound yellow. Sydney Mack, 10, (whose dad Dave works on the boat) caught a 32.8-pound bluefin tuna. David Jacobsen, 10, got a 32-pound yellowtail.

Rollin down, rigging gear, and living large! Today we are rolling down south on our Chaparro 7 day trip. We are loaded up with bait and making our way south into warm water. We will be at the grounds soon, but for now we can relax and snack like Kings!
