salmon lake Fishing Report 2025

Fishing today was absolutely excellent! The albacore bit all day and the weather has laid down and is good. All the albies range in the 25 to 30 lb range. For lunch we had swordfish in a butter, lemon, caper cream sauce and for dinner we had a rack of lamb with a blue cheese port wine sauce. Yummy! A couple of boats headed to Guadalupe to no avail. We still have a spot here and there on some of our upcoming trips. Give Susan a call in the office if you can get away and come fish.

This trip had a little of everything. (1) stressed out captain because he thought we might get skunked. (2) line shy, finicky tuna that would only bite light line. (3) Wide Open, heavy line eating, 45 going, madness. (4) a really cool shark that hung with us while we caught 198 yellowfin tuna.

Hi friends. Nothing like a two-day trip, pulling on 50-75 lb. Bluefin tuna beyond normal two-day ranges. It just goes to show the value of these two-day trips leaving around noon, fishing all day the next day and then arriving back to San Diego in the late morning. Everything worked out for us on this trip and while fishing for the majority of the boats out here was tough (lots of schools were located but did not bite), we got lucky and found a really nice school of those beautiful Bluefin tuna's. We drifted all afternoon on this particular school and if you wanted a chance to hook one of these trophies, it wasn't rocket science to do so. It was some good fishing for a while there and although our casualties were high, we managed a very healthy score on the Bluefin along with a few "Cedros-grade" Yellowtail off of a kelp. We somehow managed to give every angler on-board the experience of a five-day trip in one day. Just going to show everyone, the advantage of these two-day trips.

So that is all. We'll be arriving to San Diego tomorrow around 1100 hours and we'll be taking a few days off before we get back on a couple of short range trips. Be sure to be on the lookout for more of these two-day trips in the near future. Thanks for checking in.

Is it wrong to be long? Not for our angler Mike Cohen! In a game of inches he was able to land the longest Wahoo of the day. The prize for his capture is a brand new Diawa Saltiga HA. Great job Mike! The prizes are great and the company is fantastic! Cant ask for much more!

Captain Ryan Bostian called in the evening. Today we had 61 Yellowtail. The fishing down there at the Coronado Islands is phenomenal. We have been catching between 50 and 178 Yellowtail per day. They are biting on all techniques: Yoyo fishing, Fly-lined Sardines, and Surface Iron too. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-16-2016 Hello Everyone,Today we boarded our lets talk hook up 4 day trip with Charter Master Dave Dolan leading the group. As we left the bait barge and cleared the point we wasted no time and started to fish. We ended up landing a couple tuna and a nice yellowtail. A nice way to start the trip with a few fish on the board. We are pointed south, in choppy weather in search of bigger and better things tomorrow.Wish us luck,Team Supreme

We are just wrapping up our trip here at Guadalupe Island. The grade was incredible and they bit awesome! Can’t wait for our next trip!

Ryan Bostian checked in from “The San Diego” this afternoon with an update from Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. The Bluefin Tuna are 20 to 120 pounds. Please make sure you are prepared. The Yellowtail are 5 to 10 pounds. Please bring one light rod and one heavy rod. A light rod would be 25 pound or 30 pound test. A heavy rod should be nothing less than 40 pound outfit a 50 or 60 would be better. The Bluefin are biting on a flat fall jig. A perfect out fit for he flat fall jig would be a Talica 12 filled up with 65 pound spectra with a short top shot of 80 pound fluorocarbon. Today we had Captain Cameron running the boat. He had a very respectable day offshore in a crowded ocean. FISH COUNT: 56 anglers caught 2 Bluefin Tuna and 52 Yellowtail.
