Hey guys, the yellowtail counts at the Coronado Islands have dropped a bit the past couple of days. There are a couple reasons for the slower fishing. First reason is the south wind we have had for the last two days. This south wind has dropped the water temp a few degrees therefore making the yellows a little less active. The second reason is the seal ions have stepped up there game. In the last three days we have lost at least 40 yellowtail to the lions. Good news is , the south wind is predicted to end by the end of today. Starting Tuesday we should start to see the water begin warming again. With the warming water the yellowtail should get more active making them easier to hook. With the seal ions acting as a tax collector it just comes down to the fact that we need to hook more fish. When we are hooking more fish both the seal ions and us can get our share. The best way to hook these yellowtail has still been a flylined sardine on 25 lb. test. The Coronado Island yellowtail have not gone anywhere , they are still there. We just need the water to warm a tiny bit so we can start catching them again. Look for better counts in the next few days. Today's photo is of a father and son with 3 yellowtail caught on Saturday. Quality family time in the outdoors is what it is all about ! 29 yellowtail, 44 reds, and 100 whitefish. Yellowtail sightings are starting to become very consistent. Spring is in the air.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in at 10 PM last night with an audio wrap up from the Tribute out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, CA. We had steady action all day on our 12 hour drift. We had fish hanging nearly all day long. We ended up with 17 Bluefin Tuna (70 to 90 ponds) including a 133 an a 150 too. We had some Epic Battles and fun fishing for our group today.

Hello Everyone, Today we had a nice morning of Yellowtail fishing. Very foggy and chilly, with slack conditions. We did manage to tag some medium grade Yellowtail though. A nice way to use some tags at the end of the trip. We will be in tomorrow and back out for 8 Will Report then, Team Supreme

We had an absolutely wonderful day fishing today. We had the most flat calm weather and the tuna fishing was as good as it gets. It was all offshore on sonar schools and meter marks. The fish were all 20-32 lbs. and few bigger. It was a good day to be on the water.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 12-02-2018 We got into Guadalupe Island with about two hours to fish before dark. The school we got on was not large but we managed to hook several nice fish the biggest one being 135 pounds. The two boats fishing the island while we traveled down today had probably one of the best days of the year. Super stoked and excited for tomorrow! Weather is of course excellent at the island . We will be checking in tomorrow evening after hopefully an awesome day. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Since our big hit on Tuesday, the yellowtail at the Coronado islands have gone into sleepy mode. Each of the last two days we have seen plenty of yellowtail but they have been very difficult to catch. Today we went out with 62 passengers and caught 2 yellowtail and 150 rockfish. One thing is for sure, these yellowtail will bite again. As far as predicting when they will bite it is anyone's guess. If you come out expecting to catch yellowtail, you may go home disappointed. If you come out to enjoy the "fishing"and the ocean, and you happen to come on a day in which the yellowtail are biting. You just might experience the best day of "catching" in your life. Be prepared, the difference between 75 yellowtail on the boat and 2 yellowtail on the boat is 2 hours of biting fish.
