We had a nice afternoon hooking fish landing was okay lot of tackle failures
and losses to the sharks! But we still managed to put a nice afternoon
together. It's absolutely a beautiful grade of fish! Most of the anglers
hooked for five of these fish! We are having to fish the 30 and 40 lb. test
to get a bite here. Not ideal for getting the larger Tuna away from the
sharks. Hopefully they bite heaver line tomorrow!

Capt Mike Prichard from the Tribute called in the final talley from their overnight with 148 Yellowfin Tuna from 8 - 45 lbs, some really goos fishing. We also had good Yellowtail of which we kept about 40 of the from 6 - 12 lbs with a couple in the lower 20 lb range, we also released a lot. We a also seeing al lot of Dorado around the kelps, we were not able to get any to bite today. Fishing across the board has been very good, although the Bluefin have not been around. Stopped on schools of bluefin all day today but we’re unable to get one to stick. We did however land this 140 pound beauty. Back out tomorrow.

Ryan Bostian called in with this report from the Coronado Islands, "Today we went out with 17 Anglers and we are coming back to the dock with 44 Yellowtail. These Yellowtail are nice sized fish, 15 to 30 pounders."
They are biting the fly lined the baits today. You want to bring down your fly lined gear, your yoyo gear all your Yellowtail gear including surface irons.

Captain Shane just called in with 30 Bluefin, most in the 40-70 pound range. We go again tonight and there’s still room available.

Capt. Matt and the boys are heading home with at least 6 bluefin over 100 pounds. Tomorrow’s trip is a definite go with a very light load. Most of these bluefin were landed on 40 lb flyline rigs. Mutu circle hooks from size 2-2/0 are recommended.

Drew Henderson docked Polaris Supreme September 22 following a six-day trip with 22 anglers that visited Cedros Island and the albacore grounds with a look for very little at Guadalupe Island on the way through.
"The day started up very well for us," he wrote September 18. "It was good scratching up until just after lunch and fishing took a dump. We looked around the Island for a bit and after making a few stops for a few more fish we took off from there and are now heading west to the big Island. We have a great catch of jumbo yellowtail on board and we're hoping to get some jackpot-settling, trophy size yellowfin tomorrow. We had Portuguese style yellowtail for dinner tonight. We had it last trip for the first time and I must say it was by far the best yellowtail I have ever eaten in my life."
