This past week has been all about chasing yellowtail. The amount of yellowtail we have been seeing at the Coronado Islands has been very impressive. The fish counts have not been a representation of how much fish is in the water. Stopping on a school of 300 yellowtail and only hooking 1 has become very common. On Friday we managed to catch 30 yellowtail and Saturday produced 20. These fish are still running in the 20-30 pound range with multiple fish over 30 in the past week. Fly lined sardines on 30 lb. yo-yo lures on 40 or 50 lb. as well as surface iron on 40 lb. have all been producing fish. These yellowtail have been a challenge to hook mainly because of all the bait in the water. When some of the bait goes away and these fish settle in. 50 to 100 fish days will become common. Captain Ryan Bostian called in this evening with an update from the Coronado Islands. We had 94 Yellowtail today. The fishing was very good. Come on down to Seaforth and get on the San Diego. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 11-26-2018 Our early departure paid off today! We were able to get into the island early enough to get the tuna located and get a good bite on them in the afternoon. The fish were mostly 60 to 80 pound range, maybe a few bigger. Our big fish was 145 pounds! One of the guys got three several guys got two and most everybody else got a least one. Our weathers great, we have a great group of passengers and were all having a wonderful time. Will check in with you tomorrow! The Polaris Supreme Crew!

"Today we went out we caught 28 Yellowtail. We had a couple good opportunities at them today, one in particular was a very fun stop. We ended up with 28 fish in the 15 to 25 lb. range. They are finding the fly line sardines the best on 25 lb, surface lures will work but the fly line is the best.

You go to a spot, you sit there catching nothing. All of a sudden, 15 are hooked. That is kind of the way they are behaving right now. Today we went out with 27 anglers and caught 30 yellowtail. These yellows have been a challenge to hook but well worth the work. The grade of this fish is as good as anybody can remember in the local waters. 25-30 pounders have become the norm rather than the exception. The wise angler would bring a 25 or 30 lb. bait rod a 40 or 50 lb. yo-yo rod as well as your surface iron rod with fresh 40 lb. Today we caught fish on all three techniques.
