Hello from the bridge of the fabulous  Polaris Supreme.
Fishing for Saturday was another mixed bag out here on the offshore tuna grounds.
Like yesterday, it started out slow, but by mid day we had found our stride and started connecting with those beautiful 35-45 lb yellowfin tuna. We scratched at them all afternoon and by the end of the day, we had put another fantastic day together. We also came upon a nice school of Blufin to cap things off.
The rack of lamb dinned with all the trimmings was a great way to end things. Chef Schooler has been fatting us up nicely.
Weather is still good and knowing the potential for Sunday, well were pretty pumped up!

Thanks for the amazing response to the OPEN Shimano Charters we scheduled for the Channel Islands this spring. The response was so positive that I spoke with the folks at Shimano and they agreed to put another trip on line. This one will be set for fishing on March 13. That would be departing at 9pm on the night of the 12th. This trip will be just like the others. Shimano will provide a bunch of outfits for fishing butterfly and lucanus systems. Hi friends. Tough day on the Bluefin grounds for us. We got on a spot around breakfast time and boated a kill box full of those school-sized Bluefins but after that, we never found anything worthy of our time and effort. With that, we bailed from the area and made a move to lower latitudes. The rest of our day was spent hitting various kelp paddies for mostly "neck tie" Yellowtail but we also found ourselves in a couple of stops on Common Dolphin for some 18 lb. Yellowfin tunas that hit the trolling feathers. All in all, it wasn't quite what we had hoped for but with the great weather we had going for us we gave it our all and the gang kept in high spirits throughout our day.

With that, we're headed down to do some Yellowtail fishing tomorrow. We'll see what happens. We'd like to get outside and get on some of that Yellowfin tuna that is biting a little bit but timing wise hitting the yellow's first fits in better. We'll chat with you tomorrow and have a fine evening.

P.S. Jed would like to tell his mom hello and that he wants the meatloaf now. He'd also like to tell Rachael hello and that he'd like your meatloaf too. Ma, the meatloaf. He wants it now.

Tommy Rothery docked Polaris Supreme at Fisherman's Landing October 5 following a five-day trip. "We had full speed fishing today offshore on kelp patties," read the report from the boat for October 4. "However for the most part, the yellowtail and dorado we were catching were small. So we released all but a few. We did however get some nice grade yellowfin. No big hits, but good action as we picked away at 30 lb. yellowfin. Jeff prepared a great Cajun chicken with avocado, mozzarella and fresh salsa for lunch. And as we head in tonight he is serving us steak and lobster. We will hit the dock tomorrow morning at 8:00 am. "If you are thinking of coming out fishing we still have some open spots with Larry Brown on his 10-day departing October 25th. Highly sponsored with lots of raffles and giveaways. Give Susan a call at 619-390-7890." Jackpot winner Kenny Pole of Lakeside had a dandy 45-pound tuna for first place. He said it came on a sardine, a 2/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, 50-pound Yo-Zuri line on a TLD 30 reel and a six-foot rod of unknown make. Pole said the fish fought for 45 minutes.
