norfolk lake Fishing Report 2024

We had a descent day of yellowtail fishing today. We were looking at schools of yellows this morning that wouldn't bite before making a move where we looked at schools of yellows that would bite. Not full speed but just a comfortable pick for hours. The quality was good. 20-25 pounders. After lunch it stopped biting for the rest of the day. We took a tour of the island for nothing then settled back in where we were before but it never picked up again. We're headed back offshore for a couple days in hunt for those tasty BFTees with plenty of bait now.

 It was a rather slow day out here for us.  Not miserably slow but it definitely could've been better.  I'll just break it down for you so you know what I call a slow day.  We caught 68 yellowtail, 4 bonito, 6 barracuda, 4 calico bass, 8 sand bass, 6 Sheepshead, 4 oceanic whitefish, 5 vermilion rock fish and 6 unspecified rock fish.  We let some go too.  We threw in the towel around 3:00.  I may have a trick up my sleeve.  I may tell you about it tomorrow.  Anyways, we left the grounds because they're calling for wind here tomorrow and we hate wind with a passion out here on the ocean.  I don't even like it on land.  We're going to a less windy spot.  I'm just not sure where yet.  Find out tomorrow. 

 The weather now is fantastic.  Very little wind and along with that comes very little sea state.  It's nice.  Steamy too.  You should see Mark's shirt.  It looks like he fell in the water.  I offered anyone 20 dollars to wear it today but I got no takers.

Good evening sports fans from the bridge of the Supreme. Today was yet another day off shore. We were busy all day long bendo on tuna mostly  jumping from bird school to bird school with quite a bit of fish on the machines too. Chapparo's group always brings it every year when it comes to putting in time at the rail, even when Chef Mike nearly puts us to sleep with his thick juicy cheese burgers and homemade fries for lunch. Nobody wimped and took a nap after that big plate of food, we were all right back at it keeping the rods bent. That really sums up the day, exceptional tuna fishing and a tasty half pound rosemary chicken dinner with rice, green beans and stuffing topped with whole gralic cloves followed by bannana foster for dessert. All and all great day, beautiful weather and we hope the weather mans forecast stays true for good weather for the next 2 days. Til tomorrow friends, good night to all, and to all a good night.

Capt Mike Pritchard called in from the Tribute with an awesome early morning fish report, it is 9 am and we already have 47 Bluefin Tuna from 40 to just over 100lbs, and a few Yellowfin Tuna. What a way to start the day, if you coming out to fish, make sure your tackle is in good working order, this will prevent some heartbreaks. We recommend that you have at least a 40 lb set up, also, a special thanks to SAC for assisting in getting the Bluefin Tuna issue resolved with Mexican authorities. Hope to see you out here soon.

We had full speed fishing today offshore on kelp patties. However for the most part, the yellowtail and dorado we were catching were small. So we released all but a few. We did however get some nice grade yellowfin. No big hits, but good action as we picked away at 30 lb. yellowfin. Jeff prepared a great Cajun chicken with avocado, mozzarella and fresh salsa for lunch. And as we head in tonight he is serving us steak and lobster. We will hit the dock tomorrow morning at 8:00am. We will be departing tomorrow on an 8-day trip with "The Old Wild Bunch" headed up by Le Roy Belardes. The Tribute out of Seaforth Landing in San Diego, CA checked in today with a wrap up from a 1.5 Day trip. 33 anglers finished with 1 Bluefin Tuna and 51 Yellowfin Tuna.
