We had some good fishing on the yellows today around
12-18 pounds with some at 25 lbs. We released 100's of smaller ones.
There was plenty of action. The guys are having a great time. Our weather is ok not great, not bad. There is a little bit better sign of albacore. They are improving from what it has been recently. We will fish the yellowtail again tomorrow and save the last couple of days for tuna fishing. For dinner we had turkey breast with sausage bread stuffing and a sage wine sauce. So goodnight and wish us good luck for tomorrow!
Thanks!

Captain Ryan Bostian called in the afternoon with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. We have 80 Yellowtail (in the 15 to 20 pound class) at the Coronado Islands. They are biting on dropper loop, yo-yo jigs, and fly-lined baits.

Capt Ryan Bostain checked in from the San Diego, they have been fishing offshore the last week and have been scratching away getting 20 to 40 Yellowfin Tuna a day. But yesterday we had a private charter that was a rent rod group, we found our first really aggressive Yellowfin. We got on the school of fish that ranged from 20 to 60 lbs, and we ended up putting 92 of these fish on the boat. If you come down make sure to bring a variety of set ups, make sure you have gear ranging from 25 to 50 lbs as they were biting the heavy line yesterday. The jigs and poppers have been working well also. We depart everyday at 5:30 am, we are headed out right now and will check back in later.

"Fishing today was absolutely excellent!" wrote Polaris Supreme skipper Tom Rothery August 23. "The albacore bit all day and the weather has laid down and is good. All the albies were in the 25 to 30-pound range. For lunch we had swordfish in a butter, lemon, and caper cream sauce. For dinner we had a rack of lamb with a blue cheese port wine sauce. Yummy! A couple of boats headed to Guadalupe to no avail. We still have a spot here and there on some of our upcoming trips. Give Susan a call in the office if you can get away and come fish."
Rothery docked his boat at Fisherman's Landing August 24. He spent his fishing time on the four-day trip on the albacore grounds, with a half-day at Cortes Bank, where second skipper Drew Henderson reported big numbes of large bonito biting. The bones were eight to 12 pounds, he said.
John Windling of Portland, OR won first place for a 41.4-pound albacore. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 3/0 Mutu hook tied to 40-pound fluorocarbon leader and 60-pound Line One Spectra. He used an Avet JX reel and a Calstar 765 XL rod.
David Schulz of Yorba Linda was second, for a 38.6-pounder, and John Thompson of Phoenix, AZ won third place for a 37-pound albacore.

Hello Everyone,
Today we spent the afternoon looking for this northern tuna. We were able to find a few schools and random fish marks that did not want to bite and only equated to only a hand full of strikes.
After an afternoon of trying until the early evening we eventually had to call it a trip and start heading up to San Diego.
We would like to thank Mark Costello for both spending his birthday with us and putting together another great charter! We cant wait till next year!
our ETA is 5 am tomorrow.

Today was rough.I'm not talking about the fishing. I'm talking about the weather. We were expecting this though. We knew it would be this way so we had plans all along to keep it a down swell day. We started west and moved east jigging up small tuna. We expected this as well. We must of caught 50 tuna this morning but only 10 of them wound up with tags stapled to there gills. All the rest went back into the ocean to fight another day. Right before lunch we hit a nice kelp and caught 20 nice yellows. We thought we were going to string together a few kelps after that but that was the last thing we saw all day long other than a few jig strikes on throw back tunas. So we're headed to the Island now and we'll be there before daylight. Wish us luck.
Good news. We're getting our Gunny back August 8th. I miss that well done steak eating man. If you're reading this Guns, bring another blanket. I've been using your's aqnd it's been working great. I've been putting it on top of my blanket though so if you want it back it shouldn't have my cooties on it.
