Reed Fiori checked in tonight with an audio update for The San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing. Today we had 24 anglers catch 52 Yellowtail and 20 Bonito. We had plenty of opportunities today. The Yellows are currently down deep. We are catching them with heavy YoYo Jigs. Bee sure to use a large monofilament top-shot. We are also getting some fish on the dropper loop too. We departed today with Chaparro's annual lite load charter. This is his 10th year! A fun group as always and the guys are anxious to get their lines wet. We got a nice load of bait and headed out west looking for albacore and yellowfin with only a few landed.

There were plenty of seiners. Our weather continues to be good. As we dine on steak and lobster we are looking forward to tomorrow to do some kelping. Our web master who handles all our updates will be out fishing himself for the next few days, so there won't be any reports posted until Thursday. Give Susan a call if you have any questions. Mike Pritchard called in with this report for the Tribute. "We're just rollin' out of our 2nd stop. We picked up 25 Bluefin & we still have a couple of fish hang'n. We also caught a half dozen Skipjack, 6 or 7 Dorado here for the morning. We are seeing a very, very good sign of tuna. I know there are a couple guys here who have done very well. We're talking over 100 fish for the morning, with some Yellowfin tuna as well. We'll keep you posted."

Game fish eluded us today. So we loaded up our freezers with fresh rockfish. Skip the grocery store nausea. Have some fun and harvest your own seafood. We need reservations to run. Call Seaforth Landing (616)224-3383.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in this morning at 6:45 AM. Today we 8 Bluefin Tuna on the boat and 1 Yellowfin Tuna (22 pounds). Most of the fish are in the 20 to 25 pound range. We do have 2 fish hanging. We have flat calm weather and a light load of 14 anglers.

July 15
  Howdy folks.  Arrive depart day today so I don't have any juicy fish stories for you.  We made it dockside by 5:30 in the am.  We had a lovely time of off loading a beautiful catch of yellowtails, then an even better time of fueling the vessel.  When we got back to our slip I was surprised to see my mother who just happened to bring my lovely daughter down to see me.  I didn't know she was coming and did not expect to get to see my Sydney so that just made my day.  But we're out fishing now so it's all business.

  Things went great at the bait receivers.  We topped off on some good looking sardine and we're looking to put them to good use tomorrow.  We have a report from one of our code boats fishing on the grounds we fished last trip offshore wise and it sounds interesting.  A better grade of fish moved in today and we're going to investigate it tomorrow. 

  Everyone on board is just relaxing now or stuffing there face with prime rib.  I'm about to join them.  Mark's trying to diet and it's hilarious.  I've never seen him  give  the slightest about what goes in his stomach and he's going crazy with hunger.  He's a big boy and he's' having chicken fried steak withdrawal.  See you tomorrow.  Hopefully our timing is right on tomorrow and we get some of that action on those better tunas.
           

I have three more fishing opportunities on the Apollo. Berkley will sponsoring three overnight Channel Island trips. These will be sea bass and rock fish type adventures.
