Capt Ryan Bostain checked in from the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing, today we ran offshore to search for some Bluefin. Yesterday we went offshore and got skunked, we made the decision to try again today and we are glad we did, we ended with 22 Bluefin for our 22 anglers. That doe not sound like great numbers but the quality more than makes up for it, they are running from 45 to 75 lbs. We are getting most of these fish on the surface iron so make sure you bring several set ups to maximize your chances. The crew makes all the difference in your success and our crew is on of the best in making sure if you hook up you will have a good chance at landing them. We probably had 45 bites mostly on surface irons and we did get a few on bait. We don not know how the bite will last, so hurry up and get down here and get in on this early season action.

Today the San Diego had 24 anglers catching 1 BlueFinn Tuna, 111 Yellowtail. Fish ranging from 5-20 pounds. Lot of fun. They have a private charter tomorrow, Saturday, but they are open after that. Call 619 224 3383.

Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute called in a final count for their 1.5 day charter, they had some great fishing today. We had limits of Yellowfin Tuna, a couple Skipjack and a couple Yellowtail. We have been seing a little bit of Bluefin above the border, but getting them to bite is another story. All in all it was a fun day on the water, the quality of the Yellowfin has been up into the mid 30 lb range. Aug 18

Today was a good day. We got into the yellowtail mid morning and it was game on till lunch time. The grade wasn't the best but it was good enough. 12 up to 22 pounds and all in between. We had the passengers save some tags for the bigguns though the common grounds looked dead so we traveled to new grounds and connected near the end of the day. Everyone had a few more shots at them before we had them wind um up so we could put ourselves in position to be at the bluefin grounds before daylight.

The weather today was great. Cold but windless and on a boat thats all we care about. No wind no sea. Shawn through out a kick but appetizer spread and we're preparing to eat a seared ahi dinner. Can't wait. Gotta go.

Mama Bear- Little Bear still has both feet planted on the boat and is doing great.

The Pacific Voyager just got back into port from a 2 day with a few yellowfin tuna,one bluefin, and albacore. This is shaping up to be an interesting year with the first yellowfin being caught on this short trip. Call Seaforth to make reservations (619) 224-3383

I have the Apollo in Santa Barbara again for the spring Channel Islands season. Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Today we had 19 anglers catch 13 Bluefin Tuna. The best way to get a bite was finesse live bait rigs (20 lb floor #2 hook) or an 80-100 gram flat fall. I would bring both your heavy outfits and large flat falls for the bigger Bluefin Tuna.

Nice bluefin making for a great starter and finisher for our 6 day trips. Next one leaves August 23rd!
