Polaris Supreme Trip Update 07-05-12

      

       We departed yesterday afternoon on a 1 1/2 day charter we picked up at the last minute so we are a little behind on our reports. When we left the dock with our 4 anglers the outlook was semi promising. There was one boat with 15 of the large bluefin late in the day at 150 miles and signs of 20 to 30 pound fish at 120 miles but it wasn’t biting. We woke this morning to find the ocean flat and calm as could be with spots of breaking 20 to 30 pound bluefin signaling us to stop. And stop we did and where rewarded with a hook up all the way around for every one on deck (all 3). The bottom line on our day was limits of small yellowtail and every one caught a couple of bluefin each except 1 angler only landed one. That’s 20 yellowtail and 7 bluefin, most of which was caught in the afternoon at 120 miles. The gang all had an excellent time and we would like to thank them all. This area has defiantly fallen apart and Drew and the boys will be taking you guys going out tomorrow farther south on your 2 day trip tomorrow so don't be late he will leave as soon as you all get down to the boat and ck in 11:00 am or sooner. The killer bluefin fishing right now is at 250 miles with the upper end being at 180 miles. You guys should be below 180 miles if you can clear the dock buy 12:00. So don't be late. This fishing in the 250 mile zone is insane. The best bluefin fishing in years if want to jump on a 2 to 5 day and target this fish call Susan at the Polaris Supreme office. 46 bluefin 6 yellowtail. One stop can make or break your day, and today we were one of the lucky ones. Flylined baits on 30-40lb line and a size 2-1/0 hook worked best. We still recommend having a 40-60lb rod to fish either a sinker rig or jig.

Hello everyone, Yesterday we departed on our Billy Stephens 7 day trip. This trip grew from a five day to a seven day. We are excited to be able to take this charter to a new neck of the woods and try for some new species that would not normally be possible on a five day. Today was mainly a travel day and was spent assembling our Wahoo rigs and leaders. An all day task that will hopefully pay off with some alligator sized Wahoo tomorrow. We will be fishing tomorrow, wish us luck. Team Supreme

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-07-2016 Hi Supreme fans, Well it seem like the bluefin tuna decided to sleep in this morning. But the squid didn't, Before the crack of dawn we had plenty of squid under our lights that we scooped up for our morning bite. But only one lone 25 pound yellowtail took our offerings. Chef Mike called "first call for lunch" and that's all it took for the bluefin tuna to bite! From lunch time until first call for dinner we had steady action of bluefin tuna from 60 to 80 pounds! Once again Gary Jones would battle one for well over 3 hours and defeat a 80 pound bluefin just before we call it a trip. What a way to end a great trip.We turned the boat towards San Diego with a outstanding catch of bluefin tuna chilling in our RSW!! The Supreme Team.

Hello everyone, Today we started out our six day trip locally. There was excellent sign of 20-30lb Yellowfin tuna. However they did not cooperate that well. We are headed west in search of larger Bluefin. Wish us Luck, Team Supreme

Fishing Update

Our Sat. Sept. 10th 2 Day is a go!!!!!  We are still looking for a few more anglers to join us, but we are going fishing!!!!

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-22-2016 Today was the same but very much different. It was the same in that we woke up very tired from nighttime fishing for yellowtail last night, it was the same in that we had excellent Wahoo fishing today, it was the same in that we had great weather. What was different was the way we caught the Wahoo. It was all on the anchor. So now we have caught Wahoo on the anchor, Wahoo drifting when they wouldn't bite the jigs, and Wahoo in giant shark Malays trolling. And one other different thing we had great fishing on tuna today. We haven't seen them for a couple days but today they did us right again. We're going to start working up the line and aren't sure if we going to have any time to fish left. We got a long ways to go home! It has been an absolutely fantastic trip in absolutely beautiful weather with a great great group of anglers who are now going to take some long long naps traveling home while breaking down their Tackle.
