Weather took a turn for the worse. Today it was darn right sloppy
looking for tuna. Although there was fair signs of 25-35 lb tuna, it
wasn't what we were looking for. We were on what little sign there was
of 200 lb tuna most of the morning, but it didn't want to bite. Scott
caught and released a 110 pounder and Tom lost one well over 200 lbs.
One other boat picked up two over 200 lbs., otherwise that was the only
sign of cows seven boats had for the day. The water has cooled off
quite a bit. Otherwise there is still plenty of bait around. We are
going to bust a move tonight. We will be traveling two more days. Oh
yea, lunch was bar-b-que beef, hors d'oeuvres more sushi and sashimi and
dinner was Chilean sea bass in a mango salsa with fresh jalapenos and
cilantro. Man that was good. I had two helpings myself!
Thanks!

We got into the albacore grounds late in the morning. Most of the guys there already had a mix of around 30 albacore and yellowfin. We struggled and just couldn't find the right school until about 4:00 in the afternoon. Then it was wide open albacore fishing until 6:30. As we sat down to a superb dinner of Veal chops with Port and Mushroom sauce we reflected on what had started as a brutally tough day had turned into a simply great day!
We will definitely stay here and try this again tomorrow.
Thanks,
Tommy

I have yet one more opportunity for someone to jump on with us on a great charter. This trip is a 2-day trip fishing Thurs. and Fri. June 19-20. This is a very light charter and only fishes with 12 or 15 people. If you are able to go, you might find yourself becoming a permanent part of a very special charter on a regular basis. For more info contact Steve, at (714) 272-4395.

We had a nice afternoon hooking fish landing was okay lot of tackle failures and losses to the sharks! But we still managed to put a nice afternoon together. Itβs absolutely a beautiful grade of fish! Most of the anglers hooked for five of these fish! We have great weather and are going to do this again tomorrow! Polaris supreme crew.

It's late in the season, but Guadalupe Island is still holding and producing good catches of quality yellowfin tuna.
"We just returned this morning from another very successful Fall Guadalupe trip," said the report from the charter boat Apollo October 25. "This was another charter with 12 friends. We made good time getting to the Island and arrived at the south end around 9:30 am. There were good biting school size (25/40 lb) yellowfin tuna biting on the anchor. There were also a few schools of better grade (50/100 lb) fish to be found if one was willing to work for it. We were willing! We worked the Island for 4 days mainly targeting that better grade YFT and produced a beautiful catch of 127 Yellowfin tuna. The biggest was 108 lbs with 6 other fish breaking the century mark."
The good fishing at the island could go on until Christmas. It usually lasts until the water drops below 67 degrees or so. Old-timers tell stories about fishing yellowfin or bluefin tuna at the island when there was snow on the peaks. Guadalupe is the one destination that consistently produces yellowfin tuna of 50 to 100 pounds or more short of Alijos Rocks, another full day's cruise south.
