high desert angler Fishing Report 2025

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. Today we had every intention of fishing for Yellowtail. We checked our usual spots and could not find any fish. The water rolled at the Coronado Islands. So we headed West and we ran into Bluefin Tuna. We say large schools of tuna in the 50 to 100 pound range.

We ended up catching 6 of these trophies (up to 65 pounds). They were biting on 40 pound fly-lined sardines. You might also get lucky on surface iron or popper action. We are going to be running Bluefin Tuna trips. There have been some fish caught up to 245 pounds this year.

The kids are getting picky! Today we spent our day offshore looking for kelps. We had outstanding fishing on the smaller Yellowfin Tuna even though we released most of them. Our main target today was trying to find some Dorado, and a couple kelps had just what we needed. We ended up with with an action-packed day of quality Dorado and small Yellowfin fishing. A great way to end the trip. full of action and a few bigger fish.

Today we went out with 27 anglers and caught 30 yellowtail. These yellows have been a challenge to hook but well worth the work. The grade of this fish is as good as anybody can remember in the local waters. 25-30 pounders have become the norm rather than the exception. The wise angler would bring a 25 or 30 lb. bait rod a 40 or 50 lb. yo-yo rod as well as your surface iron rod with fresh 40 lb. Today we caught fish on all three techniques.

Today the San Diego had 24 anglers catching 1 BlueFinn Tuna, 111 Yellowtail. Fish ranging from 5-20 pounds. Lot of fun. They have a private charter tomorrow, Saturday, but they are open after that. Call 619 224 3383.

Good morning everyone, Today we fished our final day of our Bogart 2 day trip. It was a day of grinding it out in the Bluefin Tuna grounds. There was a lot of tuna around it was just very finicky and we had trouble getting it to bite. We were able to land one tuna for the entire day. What saved our bacon was the yellowtail fishing. We fished yellows the second half of the day for great quality yellows! Biggest being 48lbs! We are in tomorrow early at 5 am, and out for seven! Wish us luck, Team supreme

Fishing and the weather is still excellent! However we have had our fill of those albacore so we are heading south for some dorado and yellowtail. Dinner tonight was incredible. Pork with some amazing yummy sauce. Susan said we still have a couple of opening on our next two trips. Take some time off and come out and get into some of this action

Captain Mike Pritchard called in with a wrap-up from the Tribute's overnight trip today. We had 18 Bluefin Tuna and 16 yellowtail. We did have one Jumbo Bluefin at 70 pounds. Its always nice to have great fishing to report about and I really wish I did but I don't. It started off looking great with a morning bite of the good grade Bluefin on the sea anchor but shut off after about a hour and a half. We spent the rest of the day catching a little here and a little their. All the components where their. We had 4 good to huge schools. Numerous poppers balls, stacks and bunches of fish, but it just never happened. The weather was great and Toms anglers worked hard at it. The highlight of the day was when Joe Gigliotti made his signature home made pizza for snacks. It was killer. As far as fishing goes this was just one of those days that make it all that much sweeter when they bite. Thanks for tuning in and we will see you tomorrow.
