Polaris Supreme Trip Update 07-05-12

      

       We departed yesterday afternoon on a 1 1/2 day charter we picked up at the last minute so we are a little behind on our reports. When we left the dock with our 4 anglers the outlook was semi promising. There was one boat with 15 of the large bluefin late in the day at 150 miles and signs of 20 to 30 pound fish at 120 miles but it wasn’t biting. We woke this morning to find the ocean flat and calm as could be with spots of breaking 20 to 30 pound bluefin signaling us to stop. And stop we did and where rewarded with a hook up all the way around for every one on deck (all 3). The bottom line on our day was limits of small yellowtail and every one caught a couple of bluefin each except 1 angler only landed one. That’s 20 yellowtail and 7 bluefin, most of which was caught in the afternoon at 120 miles. The gang all had an excellent time and we would like to thank them all. This area has defiantly fallen apart and Drew and the boys will be taking you guys going out tomorrow farther south on your 2 day trip tomorrow so don't be late he will leave as soon as you all get down to the boat and ck in 11:00 am or sooner. The killer bluefin fishing right now is at 250 miles with the upper end being at 180 miles. You guys should be below 180 miles if you can clear the dock buy 12:00. So don't be late. This fishing in the 250 mile zone is insane. The best bluefin fishing in years if want to jump on a 2 to 5 day and target this fish call Susan at the Polaris Supreme office. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-17-2016 Hello Supreme Fans, We started off our day fishing looking for yellowtail. It didn't take long for the first one to come aboard, But it was short lived so we pulled the pick and made a 6 hour move which proved to be a good one! As the boat settled back on the anchor, We had several bent rods and the yellowtail charging the boat. The rest of the day we had steady yellowtail fishing until first call for dinner . During dinner we got the word that the yellowfin tuna were on the chew, and now we our on the hunt for them! The Supreme Team

Polaris Supreme Trip Up Date 11-16-2013

First thing's first on today's report. Happy 1st anniversary to both captain Drew and his lovely bride, Kristen. Congratulations to you both. Since we're on the subject of significant others, hello again to both Kathy and Marla.You are both missed. The crew is once again too busy to sit up top and work a keyboard, so you are stuck with me again.

Weather out here remains stellar. Flat calm. Everyone on board has tagged a wahoo some have tagged 5. John Devore trolled up a real beauty out in the middle of nowhere that we'd like to see a few more of. Fishing has not been exactly red-hot, but has certainly been keeping us on our toes. We're currently on our way into Magdalena Bay to top off our bait. It's the first time we've seen land in about five days. Cocktail hour is underway. Tomorrow's plans are being plotted. This evening's dinner will be started with an Italian tuna soup, followed by a seared fillet mignon and scallops stir-fry, served with a roasted garlic risotto and sauteed broccoli. YUM!

One observation I have to share today was while trolling. I looked up and realized that a flock of frigate birds had been following us for several hours. The wingspan on these magnificent birds must be at least four feet. They look like prehistoric pterodactyls from the right angle. Nature is amazing. It's an incredible world out there. P.S. We have landed about 150 Wahoo the last 2 days but kept only 46 for the trip. We released the rest. I have never seen this many small Wahoo. We are about 3 years too early on this school. The ones we kept where dandy's. Tommy

If you have ever wanted to catch a yellowtail you should go fishing now. 52 pass. 246 yellowtail on flylined bait, small yo-yo jigs and surface iron.

We departed nice and early on Paul Hess's annual 5-day charter. Every year Paul puts together a great group of guys. Most are always repeat customers, but I saw one or two new faces this year.

Everyone is anxious to get out there and get their lines wet. The prospects look good for albacore, yellowtail and yellow fin. Our weather is good for the start and lets hope it stays nice. Thanks for checking in!

Captian Ryan Bostian reported that the San Diego had a good day at the island. Today we had 62 Yellowtail and there were some nice quality. Look at the photo!

Polaris Supreme Update List 08-11-2012

 

Upon arriving to the dock this morning I was reminded of how long I have been sportfishing and more accurately running boats (36 and 34 years respectively). My good friend and charter head Eric Rogger was just arriving for his annual 5 day trip with his nephew Alex in tow. I marked this as Eric's 30th year chartering he immediately disagreed and said it was only 20. I was able to find a 1984 Polaris Deluxe schedule And prove he had been chartering on boats I have run for at least 28 years strait.That is the oldest schedule I could find If you have a older one I would love a copy. To put this in perspective Drew was 4 years old and Richie wouldn't be conceived for another 2 years and 3 months. I have no idea where I was going with this except to prove that Eric and I are old so I will get back to fishing.

Eric has again put together a great group of guys and Tanya. Yes thats 3 trips in a row we have had a women on board and not strait smelly guys. Except for Richie who just went down to the galley and tore out one of the perfume or calogne pages ( I can't tell which ) out of the latest issue of GQ magazine and rubbed it all over his chest. Every one is pretty excited and ready to get at it. We will be fishing at 05:30 am tomorrow.wish us luck.

I decided since Tanya has been riding with us every year in the six years that I've been here and she's our third female in a row on the boat, that I would pull out all the stops. I decided to rub Allure Homme Sport EAU Extreme by Chanel -- since my allure is so extreme. It's a hypnotizing musk that reminds me of my days attending the Cape Cod Classic, where my Ralph Lauren crew neck sweater rested ever so gently around the neck of my wrinkleless polo shirt, my khakis where high and tight, and my Sperry Topsiders were as fresh out of the box as the morning dew that rested ever so gently on the jibb boom of fathers sailing yacht "Br-easy Money". Arnie Palmers anyone? Mmm-hmmm, yes please, bar patron, put this round on my fathers tab and have Phillipe set the reservations for 7:30 at the Osprey Country Club . Ahhh, you're right, Thomas Rothery, where has the time gone? With that said, let's go kill some fish and get real stinky.
