east central florida Fishing Report 2024

Hey guys, after two weeks of fishing for yellowtail in U.S. waters, we have now decided to head back down to the Coronado Islands. We have still been seeing plenty of yellows in the local waters but they just have not got with it like we wanted them to. Yellowtail have been spotted from the rockpile to Catalina island over the past week. I honestly feel that the Coronado Islands is going to be our best bet at finding some yellowtail that want to bite well. Our first trip to the islands is tomorrow, Friday 27th.  So here's what went down today aboard the Polaris Supreme.  We slept in this morning.  Breakfast wasn't until 9ish.  As far as the crew goes Tommy made us a whole long sheet of a work list that kept us busy most of the day.  After breakfast we did our wahoo seminar which we were all delighted to have deckhand Mark present it to us.  Fantastic.  After that JC had a gift for us all.  A brand new pair of electric sunglasses which for me could not have come at a better time.  I was in dire straights for shades so THANK YOU JC!!!  After was the movie of the day which was Wolf Street and in between was lunch and then some rigging of tackle by some of the passengers.  Nap time was next and then cocktail hour and now we're doing dinner.  Cornish game hens tonight.  Last night was prime rib.  And after is bed time because we have another tough day to look forward to tomorrow.
       
 

Putting away the Bluefin gear for now. Our sights are set on warm water fish next. Possibly Wahoo or Yellowtail! Glassy seas and great weather here traveling down on our Beck / Emerson / Wagstaff 7 day! We have new shorter trips on line for the weekend after we get back departing Friday July 20 and Sunday the 22nd. Will report tomorrow, Team Supreme

Good morning everyone, Today we had a great day full of biting Yellowfin Tuna. It was not wide open but we were able to pick at them for a few hours. There were some nice Yellowtail and Bluefin mixed in as well. We will be looking for kelps tomorrow, Team Supreme

Good evening. Oh boy!! We finally have some rough weather two weeks of awesome weather and it's taking a little bit of getting used to. I've only bounced back from the dash and banged the wall behind me twice so I'm pumped! I think I might have corrected my lower back issues too...not.

Anyhow, we fished for Yellowtail today and had a slow go of it for most of the day up until we had a nice go of it in the late afternoon. The fly-lined sardines were catching the majority of the 'tails but the yo-yo jigs worked a little bit as well. The "knotheads" (Mark's distant cousins) destroyed us for most of the day but during our little flurry in the later part of the day, they left us alone for the most part and we had some clean fishing. We caught a host of other species as well and when all was said and done, we had a respectable score and it was a fine way to end the day.

Dinner was awesome tonight. Our good friend Sam donated one of his tasty Bluefin--unbeknownst to him until it was served (Thanks, Sam)--and Chef Shawn seared that thing to perfection and served it with white rice and veggies and man, it was delicious. I don't know if I've ever had seared Bluefin like that before. It was out of this world and I wasn't the only one saying that. Excellent way to end the day, for sure.

So that is all. We're bouncing up the line as we speak and we'll be in the BFT zone in a couple of hours and we'll be giving it a half a day until we run out of time. We'll see what happens. The weather is up which usually is conducive to the Bluefins having their noses in the mud but crazier things have happened and we'll see if we can't connect. We'll report with you tomorrow and we'll see how this weather plays out.

This morning we had a passenger who was having a medical problem and had to be airlifted off. We were lucky as Coast Guard was near by rescuing some people off a sailboat. So it was very quick and efficient. Last report is he is doing well. Fishing today was ok. We got some jig strikes for a handful of tuna above the island. In the afternoon we got the anchor down and continued to fish the tuna until a shark shut us down. So we moved to another spot that had good signs of tuna. But even though they were showing well they did not want to bite. The yellowtail however did bite and we got some big hombart yellowtail for about an hour and a half until the shark found us from the previous spot and shut us down again. So we tried to out smart him and swung back up to the original spot and got into some 20-55 pounders. Tomorrow we will be in a different area and should be fishing by 9:30 tomorrow morning. Our weather is ok. There was some wind going down, but not a bad ride. And it was beautiful calm in the lee of the island. Chef Rick is on board this trip and made a great roasted chicken with a garlic cream sauce, zucchini and rice. And dessert was Death by Chocolate. Really good. Thanks for checking in.

Hello everyone, Had another exciting day of fishing here today. A lot of action, but we were able to be a little more selective today. We were able to catch some more Yellowtail, Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, Grouper, and Cabrilla. Another mixed bag day. Great action and variety for everyone. We will try for Yellowtail tomorrow, Team Supreme
