center hill lake Fishing Report 2024

Awesome fishing once again for these butterball Yellowfin. 110 Yellowfin and 8 Skipjack for our 24 Angler’s today in some of the most epic weather of the season.

July 29
  Today was just one of those days for us.  Well, I was controlling where we fished so I guess I just had one of those days.  No, we're a team out here, WE had one of those days.  We zigged instead of zagged.  We turned left instead of right.  During our zig, we found two kelps that were truly loaded with nice looking tuna according to my machines, but darn-it if they wouldn't bite.  We have to figure they were kelps that got fished the day before and needed more time to recoup.  During that time, there was a small area of kelps being found that were holding Dorado and mostly small tuna, but they were all taken by the time we made it in there.  We tried to pick off one into the east and then north but we never could find much before we ran out of time.  We scratched out a bit more than 50 mixed fish today so it wasn't a total loss.  We just had one of those days.

  The weather right now couldn't be better.  We deserve it.  We had a windy few days to start out the trip.  All and all it was a great trip.  A great group and good fishing.  We'll be home tomorrow and back out for another 5 shortly there after.
  
  As of now I'd pick Mark to win the "Biggest Loser" competition.  Chef David made an amazing lasagna last night and Justin had a big ole piece while Mark ate a salad.  Who would of thought our hill- billy, poor grammar speaking Mark "the crow" Clark would pass up lasagna for a salad.  Next thing you know he may exercise during his way...  OK, I can't even finish writing that it sounds so ridiculous.
          

Reed checked in from the Fred Hall Show down in San Diego and just heard from Capt Ryan Bostain aboard the San Diego 3/4 day boat. The have limits of Yellowtail for their 20 anglers from 16 to 22 lbs, they were biting everything today. Good morning everyone, We got a great early start on our Simpatico five day trip. Our intentions were to have an opportunity to catch some of these larger local Bluefin Tuna. However the action slowed and it did not pencil out as we hoped. There is some pretty bad weather rolling up today and is supposed to be here tomorrow. We are probably going to try some inshore fishing somewhere tomorrow to stay clear of the weather and pull on some fish at the same time. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Putting away the Bluefin gear for now. Our sights are set on warm water fish next. Possibly Wahoo or Yellowtail! Glassy seas and great weather here traveling down on our Beck / Emerson / Wagstaff 7 day! We have new shorter trips on line for the weekend after we get back departing Friday July 20 and Sunday the 22nd. Will report tomorrow, Team Supreme

Went 1 for 2 on local Yellowtail. Fish are holding tight to the bottom, much like the one's we've been seeing regularly at the Coranado Islands. Our guess is that fish is moving north. This one ate a sardine on the dropper loop. We have Monday open for charter, then some days in July. Come on out and enjoy the fishing. 

Good morning everyone, Yesterday we worked our way up and tried for yellowtail briefly in the morning. We had to be extremely cautious because the early morning fog was very thick. However when it did rise we were able to catch a few yellowtail, but no boomer hits to go with it. We are still very far down the Baja coast and we need to keep working up, so we spent the rest of the day steaming up while dragging some jigs. We will be scouting offshore tomorrow.
