"What an absolutely, fantastic, unbelievable day," wrote Tommy Rothery aboard his Polaris Supreme November 2. "We had more marlin than you can imagine. We hooked and are released over 220. The wahoo fishing was also fantastic. The group had a blast pulling in "crocodile" size wahoo. And we topped off the day with even bigger dorado than yesterday. The weather is good and we just had an awesome day on all three: wahoo, dorado and marlin."
The next day Rothery wrote, "Well if we thought yesterday was phenomenal, today was even better. I know I'm repeating myself but the fishing was just great again on the wahoo and dorado. And yes, the marlin are still here and wanted to play. We have good weather and this is a nice way to end the trip. Great group, great fishing, great crew."
Rothery docked at Fisherman's Landing November 6 after his Larry Brown charter with 22 anglers. "The place was thick with marlin," he remarked. "There's lots of bait and the water where we're fishing is 78 to 79 degrees."
Dr. Chris Minnick of Pasadena won first place for a 71.6-pound yellowfin. He said he bagged it in about ten minutes,, after it bit on a sardine pinned to a 3/0 Hayabusa hook. He used 60-pound Soft Steel Ultra line and 80-pound Izorline Spectra backing on an Avet EXW 4-2 reel and a Calstar 765 L rod.
Mike Mayes of Rnancho Santa Margarita won second place for a 54.6-pound wahoo. Ron Stafford of Minot, ND won third place for a 53-pound yellowfin tuna. A gentleman identified as "Duke" posed in the lineup shot with a typical dorado from the trip.

Great boat, great crew, great food, great passengers, good weather, slow fishing. That's just the way it went down on this day and a half. We were in tuna mode trying for nice quality albacore.
We scratched 26 and some yellows and let go lots of flats. Descent amount of fish seen at times throughout the day, but they didn't climb on our hooks. Hopefully soon coming and more consistent. Next trip is a 5 day, so stay tuned.

Incredible amount of fish in our range right now. We see bluefin from big to too big. Yellowfin tuna from 5-25 lbs. open water yellowtail from 8-15 lbs. most of the fish are slurping small anchovies on the surface and do not bite. We did manage to land 7 bluefin from 30-75 lbs and 4 bonito.

Good Morning everyone,
Today we had some time to fish for Yellowtail along the coast.
We managed to catch some Yellowtail mixed in with the Barracuda and Bonito.
It was great action for the day.
If we make good speed we may be able to fish tomorrow.
Will report then,
Team Supreme

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-17-2016
Good morning everyone. We ended up driving around most of the day yesterday and seeing only a few schools after the first two hours. That Bluefin was not up and foaming and boiling and crashing and jumping and breezing like it has been. Late in the day we got on eight Breezers that were the size of Midtown Manhattan that we made long drifts flying the kites, fly lining, sinker fishing, jig fishing etc. with no luck. Just as we were getting ready to take off to the Yellowfin tuna grounds after dinner we had a nice school come under and managed to hook a 115 pounder and landed it. Quite a long day but we ended up with two beautiful tuna both caught in the dark and both caught on iron. The majority of the Bluefin that is caught, is caught that way or on fly fish trolled with the kite through big schools. Today we will be fishing Yellowfin tuna and hitting kelp patties for Yellowtail and Dorado. Our weather is good and were looking for a little bit more action than one in the morning and one at the end of the day. We will check with you later. Have a great day.
The Polaris supreme crew.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in with an update from the Coronado Islands. Ryan said, "The Ocean is Alive!" Today we had 120 Yellowtail for our group. The surface iron was very effective today along with the fly-lined baits. We also had a fair amount on Yo-yo iron.
The San Diego is online every day and you can book by calling Seaforth Landing at (619) 224-3383 or BOOK ONLINE.

Fishing was absolutely phenomenal! If the last two day were great, today was even better. We had a good morning bite and then topped off the trip with an afternoon bite that went well into the dark. The tuna were biting the kite and anything else we put in the water. All fish ranged between 175 and 260 pounds. All anglers had a shot at them and a couple landed two. We did however stop to replenish our energy with some of Pedro's great food. For lunch we had tuna with a red sauce and ravioli on a bed of spinach with a cream sauce. Sounds like a weird combo, but boy did it taste good together. And dinner was a great roasted Cornish game hen with all the veggies and potato on the side. In addition to Pedro, I have to say our crew has done a fantastic job. They really work well together. And of course Lon and his group were a delight to have on board. And by the conversation in the galley, they are all planning on returning to this trip next year. Lon is going to open it up so if you are interested call Susan in the office. There will be a couple of spots. And on that note we are heading for home in excellent weather. We will be at the dock Sunday morning. Come down and see this great catch. Meet Lon from OTR. And see Susan about booking a trip.
