Captain Mike Pritchard checked back in at 11:27 AM. We have been having tough conditions. We just landed a Bluefin Tuna that taped out at 133 pounds. We have nine fish on board. We have had a lot of lost fish. Getting them on the boat has proven to be difficult. Be sure to bring your heavy tackle. I would suggest 30#, 40#, 50# and 80$ outfits. Polaris Supreme docked under owner-skipper Tom Rothery's hand June 26, after a five-day trip with 24 anglers for yellowtail and albacore. Tom weighed the fish at the certified scales at Fisherman's Landing, where a 48-pound yellowtail took top honors.
Terry Emmert of Douglas, WY had the first-place winner. "I got him in about 15 minutes," he said. "He just kept pulling and pulling, and he kept getting into a stringer of floating kelp. He's my best yellowtail ever." Emmert said he fished a sardine on the flyline, using a 3/0 Mustad 91450 hook on 40-pound P-Line. He had an Okuma 20 two-speed reel and a Seeker Black Steel 6470 rod, wrapped by Bill Boyce. Michael Giardino of San Pedro was second, for a 43-pound yellowtail, and Mal Wagstaff of Douglas, WY was third, for a 36.2-pound yellowtail. Three generations of Pattersons were aboard, and they posed with their fish. Liam Patterson of San Jose is eight, and he goes to Santa Teresa Elementary School, where he practices karate. Liam caught some big yellowtail, and he also got and posed with a 24.4-pound albacore, which will serve to start off this season's tally for the largest fish of that species.

Liam's dad Lane stood in with the boy, as did John Danis and John Patterson, also of San Jose and from the Patterson family.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-11-2016 Good evening folks, Polaris Supreme checking in. We started our day in the same area where we had phenomenal yellowtail fishing yesterday. The bait was there, the birds were there and the current was there, but for some reason the yellowtail were not. We did manage to pick away at a couple yellowtail, but we just couldn't get the ball rolling. After accepting the fact that the yellowtail pulled a no-show, we decided to make our way offshore in hopes of better things. And indeed better things we found! We spotted a big beautiful kelp patty that had a jumbo school of large hungry yellowtail beneath it. It was a day saver! These fish were biting the fly line and yo-yo jigs. We also saw a couple nice Dorado on the kelp but they did not like our offerings. We are now making way back up north to another area where we will be finishing off our trip by fishing for those larger size yellowtail once again. Also, sorry for the lack of pictures today. Polaris Supreme Trip Report 10-25-2019 We spent the day looking for yellowtail and only tied into a few. Truthfully most the day was spent dodging wind. Our ride was good but we had some serious offshore Santa Ana conditions. Will be spending all day tomorrow traveling up to San Diego it looks like it's going to be great weather. Will be into the dock on Sunday morning and be doing 17 days of boat work before we head back out again for eight days on November 14. Thanks for tuning in to see you then. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Aug. 24

Good evening from the Polaris Supreme. We're just starting off with our two week span of 1 1/2 trips. The first bait loading didn't go too swell. It looked like a rave party in the crowder when we loaded it. All sorts of fun colors with the silver shiny glitter(scales) being the dominate color with red coming in a close second. It is what it is. Hopefully we find something to use it on early tomorrow because I'm not so sure they will be swimming come lunch time. After that they'll just have to bite the dead bait which I have seen the yellowfin do countless times before. So here we go, Prime Ribbing it now, some z's in the future and then fishing it tomorrow.

 

Hello everyone, Today we weeded through a lot of small Yellowfin Tuna for a few premium models, from 20-40 lbs! It was tough weeding through the little ones to get to the keeper tuna. There was some nice Snowy Grouper mixed in as well. A nice Tuna/Grouper combo. We decided to head offshore around lunch time in search of kelp patties. We found one kelp that was absolute chaos. It was as fast as you could catch for a while. A beautiful Dorado bite to get everyone fired up. A few lucky anglers were lucky enough to catch some Wahoo on the kelp as well.
