February 22, 2025 waubay Fishing Report

Polaris Supreme arrived August 23 with skipper Drew Henderson at the wheel. Ryan Christianson of San Diego was chartermaster for the 24 anglers aboard on the Let's Talk Hookup trip. Mark Greul of Omaha, NE presented a 58-pound yellowfin at the scales and won first place for his effort. He said his fish bit a sardine on a 3/0 Flyliner hook tied to 30-pound Blackwater fluorocarbon and 30-pound Ande line. He used a Torium 30 reel and a Seeker Black Steel C8 seven and a half-foot rod. Richard Miller of Jackson won second place for a 40-pound albacore. Mark Cornoll of Jackson won third place for a 31.6-pound yellowtail.

45 pass. 225 yellowfin tuna 50 skipjack tuna. The entire fleet had blood running out the scuppers. Best fishing of the season is happening right now. Don’t miss out.

New 1.5 Day Limited Load Trip on The Polaris Supreme Trip. The Polaris supreme has a new 1 1/2 day trip scheduled to depart Sunday afternoon at 6 PM fish all day Monday and return Tuesday morning at 6 AM. We still have six spots open and the trip is all inclusive meals Mexican permits etc. We will be targeting the 15 to 30 pound yellowfin tuna that is outside San Diego. Hi friends. Tough day for us on the offshore grounds, well, that's not entirely true. First thing in the morning, we picked up a handful of Bluefin on the drift and it took us a long while until we jigged up a couple of Yellowfin tuna after lunch-time. In all honesty, that was pretty much our day for a long time. We never got on a school in the morning and we were constantly searching from that point on, going almost the entire day without seeing much of anything. In the afternoon, the task of locating a school became much more difficult as the entire fleet left to either go home or continue on their routes south-bound. Easy to forget what an enormous ocean this here Eastern Pacific is when you're the only boat in the area.

Another great day of fishing out here. We had 160 rockfish 7 lings and 137 whitefish for 16 guys on the Endeavor.

Hello Everyone, Today was the ultimate tackle day. We spent the day preparing all our gear for the following days to come. Spooling up reels, wiring up bait leaders, bombs, and marauders for Wahoo. It was a nice day rolling down to take care off all of these things. Tomorrow we will start fishing. We have the opportunity for Yellowfin tuna, Wahoo, and Yellowtail all in the same spot! A great chance for some good variety! Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Very rough seas made landing our 27 yellowtail quite the challenge. The JRI 66 was the hot lure.
