Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-18-2016 Good evening everyone and thanks for checking in. Today was another gorgeous travel day into the lower latitudes. The weather just just about picture perfect all day long. As normal on these longer trips, Mike prepares a little bit of a later breakfast and shortly after the crew puts on our detailed fishing tackle seminar. There is a lot to go over to get the guys tuned up on the wide variety for fishing we might encounter. Being that there's so many different things we might see, we can't leave any stone unturned, especially for the guys that either haven't been on the Supreme or just haven't been on a longer trip at all. It's very important we have everyone dialed in and on the same page. The rest of the day was rather casual, a lot of rigging, crimping leaders, setting up jigs and just making sure all of the gear is fine tuned,. Once we got everyone tuned up the afternoon closed out with movies, naps reading books and just enjoying a nice ride down. Tomorrow we'll start off with some offshore style fishing and continue to make our plan for the rest of the trip.  Good evening everyone.  We wrapped up our trip today.  And it was an interesting day.  First off the weather continued to produce variable wind.  Flat calm and gorgeous.  Onto the fishing.  As you know we almost had no sardine today.  We used it well though for the time we had it.  The bluefin floated today.  Everywhere you looked there was a 30-50 pound bluefin gently rolling on the glassy surface.  Other times you would see the whole school swimming on the surface.  It definitely had that feel to it.  We caught 30 fish from 30-50 pounds this morning before we ran out of bait.  For the time being it was great but sad when we ran out.  We still had a couple tanks of big mackerel to use and Tommy had it figured out where we would use it.  So we made a few hour move and it didn't take long after we arrived to the honey hole before we were gettinum.  Big yellowfin.  45-65 pounders.  It felt like we were anchored up at Alijos Rocks when the tuna were around there.  Those fish liked our mackerel.  We caught a few over 20 of those bad boys before they quit biting.  I wish we could be in 2 spots at once.

 So we have a 1.5 day trip leaving tomorrow afternoon Aug. 27 and we want you to go.  Let me try and talk you into it.  Now this is me speaking truth.  Not blowing smoke at you.  The weather still is fore casted to be great great.  Variable wind.  Now I told you we had great fishing this morning while we had bait.  A lot of the boats that had just left on there trips that had bait all day drifted all day.  Not all but a lot. They drifted and they caught. It's a good time to go fishing I'd say.  Good grade, good fishing. Let us take you fishing, feed you great, show you a good time and hopefully the bonus, catch lots of fish.
        

Today we scratched away at a nice grade of yellowtail. Our weather is calm and we had a fun day of island fishing. Thanks for checking in.

The Yellowtail are biting extremely well right now.

We had a great afternoon on them yesterday and this morning as well! 

We are hoping to pair some Bluefin with these Yellowtail later this afternoon.

Captain Ryan Bostian called with an update from the Offshore Grounds. We had 116 Yellowtail and 1 Dorado. It sounds like there is a nice body of fish moving into our area. We recommend using 30 pound test. September is the best month of the year to go fishing in San Diego!

Aug. 19
    Let me explain to you readers why I had such a great day today.  I am in a great mood and here's why.  It all starts at the bait receivers.  I lifted up the lid for the bait and I saw great bait and alot of them in the box.  Then we netted it and it still looked great and after it was in our tanks it still looked great!  It was schooled up and hanging low in the tank looking healthy.  The best part is we got three boxes of it and for the first time for a while, with the mackerel myself and the crew caught this morning, we have a full load of bait on board.  Now we're not totally in the clear yet.  The bait had only been in the receiver for a day so it had no time to cure and that's always concerning.  It also lost some of it's protective scales as we loaded it so there is a danger of it getting sick but so far so good.  We'll know more in the morning.  For the first time in 3 nights we're not running in to fish for bait all night so we get to sleep.  Stoked.  

    The other reason I had such a good day is the good day we had today.  Our timing was great.  I think it started around 4:00.  Our first stop of the afternoon was a good one.  We landed about 50 of those mostly 20-25 pound yellowfin.  After that we went from stop to stop catching anywhere from 5-20 of those beauts.  We had one heck of a departure day and those fish were free.  Stoked.  Oh yeah, the crew and I had a nap today before we got to the grounds and we felt rested and great.  Now I'm showered and am going to go eat dinner.  Stoked.

Hello everyone, Today we are supremely sore from pulling on fish. The morning was spent catching a handful of Wahoo, some Grouper, and a bunch of Yellowfin Tuna. When the afternoon rolled around we went looking for Dorado, and found them. It was a excellent grade, and everyone caught as much as they wanted. Very good fishing. We will be targeting Wahoo and Grouper tomorrow. Wish us Luck, Team Supreme

Found our Shot at Gold! Today we spent our day looking for kelps. There was a lot of kelps but we had to be selective and persist through many empty's until we were able to find one that was holding. The fruitful kelp for us had beautiful Dorado that wanted to bite.It was a chaotic 30 minutes of biting fish, but we made the most out of it. Everyone was able to land a Dorado and we even picked off a Wahoo! Here we have Mark and Jon with their beautiful Dorado!
