Good evening and thanks again for tuning Polaris Supreme fans.   What an excellent day today!  The early morning hours were spent doing some looking around at different spots deciding where we wanted to get established for tuna fishing.  The currents didn't really want to cooperate at first, but eventually we found what looked best and gave it a shot.  It was a little on the slower side till things started to wake up, then the guys started to scratch away.  We eventually switched gears into wahoo mode and that was a great choice.  The remainder of the day we had our running shoes on chasing skinnies all around the boat.  Stop after stop, they kept coming over the rail.  The tax man had to take his piece of the pie of course, losing more than just a few to sharks, but never the less, I still call it an amazing day of skin fishing.  We all look forward to many more days like today before we end the trip.  For those wondering about the weather, you should be jealous.  I don't think there is nicer weather anywhere in the U.S.  It nothing short of perfect out here. 

                 A+ fishing and top notch food, what more could you ask for on a long range trip.  All of the guys are having a great time.  As always, thanks for taking a few minutes to check in and don't forget, even though we are out here on the water, we will still be representing at the Long Beach Fred Hall Show this year.  Make sure you stop by our booth and say hi to our crew up there.  Till tomorrow, tight lines.

Well what the heck! I just went to go get some pictures to post on our wrap up of Tom Chaparros six-day trip! Yes that's right it was a six-day trip not a five! And next year it is going to be a seven-day trip! If you care to join Tom and his gang give Susan a call! He limits his trip to only 18 anglers. Anyways I went to go get some pictures out of our files and all we had was pizza! And then I realized the only slow day of fishing we had out of six days was the day we made pizza! Thus the only day we had time to take pictures! We were too busy gaffing 18 to 22 pound average yellowtail and or 15 To 16 pound average yellowfin tuna! Our fishing was absolutely fantastic. The yellowtail fishing was excellent surface iron and fly line sardine as well was the yellowfin tuna fishing. A iron throwers paradise. One thing I should point out about Tom's trip as well as every trip we've had so far this year is that our weather has been absolutely superb! I think maybe we've only had two choppy days in the last 33. Tom Chaparros seven day trip next year 2018 will be departing on Wednesday August 1 and arriving Wednesday, August 8. After getting to see what great fishing we could get into stretching the trip 1 day and seeing some of the other boats on longer trips getting a shot at the Wahoo it got everyone to want to extend the trip.   I just woke up and thought I'd better write this before I forget about it.  Last night after our late hit we made a 5 mile move tighter to the Island in this little bay, if you would.  Man o man was it good sleeping.  The boat just gently rocked us to sleep.  Gently.  The AC was pumping and we were all beat from our day and kind of sick of the wind, so we came over here, out of the wind and fell asleep with our thumbs in our mouths.  Now it's getting about time to fish.  I'll let everyone sleep another hour and then it's wake up time.  See you tonight.

  Midday report:  We left The Island around noon.  It wasn't as good today as it was yesterday.  It was still good, we were just hoping for a little more in a shorter time.  It might be because of all the bait that's around here.  I can't imagine they haven't been just stuffing there face all night and morning.  i've been fishing that Island for 15 years and I haven't seen anything like it.  Even the Godfather himself called it an "unbelievable" amount of bait there.  And then at noon when we were looking for one more stop, all the life vanished  Just like that.  Poof.  I didn't give it any time after that looking.  We left right away.  So it took us a couple hours longer then I was expecting and we were just a stop shy of what I wanted but we're still looking good on yellowtail.  We saved a little room for tomorrow. 

  So we took off in search of tuna/dorado this afternoon, and we were unsuccessful.  The ride up so far has been fine.  The weather forecast looks good for tomorrow.  It should be good to start and only get better throughout the day.  We deserve it.  The reports above in tomorrows tuna zone for us were good today.  There were some productive kelps up there today.  We want some.

Hey everybody the voyager is running a open party 2 day trip this up coming weekend!

The season is still very much here and the fishing is excellent on Dorado, Yelllowfin, Bluefin, and yellowtail!! This may very well be the Voyager's last offshore adventure before it begins it's rock cod season. The ticket cost is $425 and this includes permit and bunk. We are limited load to only 16 passengers so please act quickly. Day 2 will be spent offshore as well, the fishing at the dumper has been exceptional for the BFT's!! And the better grade yellows!! 12-25lbs

Go fly a kite. We did. Awesome weather and great signs of big tuna all around us. We hit them with everything we had -kites, sinker rigs, fly line sardines, mackerels, flying fish on 100 lb then 80 lb, then 60 lb, then 40 lb, then 30 lb nothing. Chunking - nothing. Anchored, then drifted, then trolled. We proved that fishing does not equal catching. If you listened close enough - you could hear the cow tuna laughing at us. We found solace in chef Schoolers platters of sashimi, wonton cups filled with marvelous ahi poke and bacon wrapped asparagus. We heard of a place where 30 lb Dorado and mid sized yellow fin play. We are going there now.

Nov. 8

Timing is everything. And so far our timing for the most part has been a little off, whether it be wrong day or wrong time. This morning we caught some quality fish. Less of them then we were hoping but we caught a handful of 35-50 pound yellowfin mixed in with several handfuls of smaller ones and a couple of wahoo. It didn't take long for Tommy to figure out that this was the wrong day not time. So we took off from there in search of. We found a few more wahoo on our next spot but only landed one before we kept sliding down to new zones. We fished a couple other spots for just a couple more fish while setting ourselves up for some stellar bait making. We got that job done before dinner and as I write this we are anchored up in cow town. We're expecting a couple slowish days while we're down here but the fish we land should be trophies.

The weather down here remains good. Clear skies, little wind and it's hot and muggy. Well I'm going to go back to bed for another hour or so. Check back to see how many trophies we get today.

We are going to run an open party limited load trip on Sunday March 2nd. The trip will cost $130 and will depart at 9pm on the night of the 1st. If you are interested in going we will be looking for squid and targeting seabass in the morning before trying to fill our limits with tasty rockfish. Our private charter had to display some good old fashioned patience today. In a typical 3/4 day trip we can expect to make about 3-5 moves thru ought the day looking for fish. Today however, we did not find what we were looking for until our 9th stop of the day. The rapidly changing conditions coupled with the short windows of biting fish have been driving yours truly crazy the past couple of days. Today's photo will show you why we have been putting ourselves thru such mental anguish. Today's final count for our 31 passengers is 11 yellowtail 20 calico bass 16 barracuda 7 rockfish. Our yellowtail today weighed 20-35 pounds and were biting the fly lined sardines the best.

Capt. Ray went out today with 22 passengers. Final fish count for the day is. 1 calico bass 2 sheephead 7 red rock cod. 90 whitefish 110 rockfish. Tomorrows trip looks to have a light load. On January 1st we will shut down for our annual maintenance period.
