Aug. 23

The morning started off as predicted. Good fishing on a beautiful grade of fish. Seniors for sure. After a few hours of pumping and pulling the fishing shut off and stayed that way till after the appetizers were put out and wouldn't you know it, the fish wanted some too. So we pumped and grinded ( or ground?) again on the Polaris Supreme for a while longer and now we're headed for new grounds. Should be great tomorrow for our last day. We'll see.

No helmet time for Mark today. His litlun Chase must be keeping him under control. See you tomorrow. Polaris Supreme clear.

Captain Aliyar called in with us today from the Polaris Supreme with the first trip of the year scheduled for this Friday.

We have our first 1.5 Day departing on Friday, April 2nd at 6PM. We will be targeting Bluefin Tuna. So if you guys want to come out give us a call or check us out online. We have a bunch of 1.5 Day and 3 Day trips online for April and May. You can give Lindsey a call in the office at (619) 706-3634 and she can answer any questions you may have.

Aug. 20
    Another fantastic day out here for us.  We had a great nights sleep.  The boat just gently rocked us to sleep just like a baby.  We tried for a gray bite but only caught one.  It didn't take long looking for a school before we found one.  We short stopped 15 yellowfin and then it didn't take long to find another deal and that one was good for a 2 hour drift.  When that dried up it didn't take long to find another one and that one was good for a 2 1/2 hour drift.  After that it was lunch time and we're pretty much done with the yellowfin.  We spent the last half of the day looking for bluefin unsuccessfully.  We're going to head for some new grounds.  And by that I mean some water I can't remember ever fishing in.  We have reports of some bluefin schools so we're going to check it out.  We'll be there first thing.  I'll let you know.

    The weather today got interesting.  It stayed pretty much windless through out the day so it remained similar to a lake, but around 9:00 in the AM it started dumping rain on us.  And I mean dumping.  Everyone on board scrambled for there rain gear.  I got to try out my new Aftco raincoat and it worked great.  During the down pour the lightning that was around got pretty darn close so I had everyone go indoors to wait it out.  It didn't take long to pass and we continued fishing and catching.  After that it stayed dry the rest of the day.  The boat got a nice fresh water rinse.
                                    

 

Captain Jodie Morgan called in from the Apollo to let us know they have 70 Bluefin Tuna (up to 50 pounds) as of 10:25 AM. The Apollo is one the first day of a two day trip. The Apollo is current booked solid with charters but we do sometimes help out charter masters with getting a few people. Rolling down on the Ranta trip! Grease calm seas here rolling down on the Ranta 6 day trip. We had a great day of rigging, and are ready for action tomorrow. We may have a little wind this evening but it should subside by about 1 am for us. We start fishing tomorrow. Wish us luck!

The San Diego checked in with us today. We finished with 10 Yellowfin, 23 Dorado, 12 Yellowtail  and 13 Skipjack. Choppy seas made things tough but we managed to scratch a day out. Hopeful for tomorrow.

Hi friends. Today, our good friend and long time Polaris Supreme regular Paul Briscoe told me that my reports were starting sound like Tim's on the Royal Star. First off, I personally enjoy the hell out of reading Tim's reports. That guy is good, real good. Anyhow, today's report will be for Paul so that the people at home can know exactly how our fishing day -- and only our fishing day -- was and no other words. Here it goes.

We woke up this morning, did a seminar. Midway through the seminar, Drew literally ran over a school of yellowfin tuna, dorado, and yellowtail and we began fishing. It was aquarium-style fishing on football yellowfins with a handful of thirty pounders thrown in there too. After that, we drove around all day getting occasional stops on those thirty to fifty pound yellowfin tuna. We ended our day 32 of those beautiful yellowfin, a bunch of footballs, and some flatheads thrown in for color. The weather was flat calm and the bronzing was delicious. We'll be here tomorrow trying for more fat yellowfin and we'll hopefully be the lucky boat to drift on 80-130 lb. bluefin like one boat did today. Maybe I'll tell some stories tomorrow, like how I jumped in the water to save Eric Kinnicutt's fish from being all wrapped up in the propellers and rudders. It was fun. See you later.

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 09-20-2016 As I'm writing this right now the boat looks like a ghost ship. The boys are down for the count, after our first day of phenomenal Wahoo fishing and another day of great Wahoo fishing tuna fishing and yellowtail fishing into the dark they are some whipped puppies. In about 59 minutes we are going to try to do it all over again. I'm really curious to see how many are up as early as they were the first day! Thanks for tuning in we will try to get you some more reports for the upcoming day. Don't count on them coming out to quick we've been swamped! And yes it is still great weather!
