Today was mainly a travel day. We have a strong current working against us so we only had time for a couple drifts. However we did manage to land some 15 lb Yellowtail bottom fish. Our ETA for tomorrow is 530 to the dock.

Hi friends. The past couple of days has seen us hit numerous beautiful kelp paddies and after weeding through excellent dorado fishing and nauseating yellowtail fishing (WFO 3-5 pounders, all released with the exception for a handful of standouts), we have little tuna to show for our efforts. It's just a matter of finding the right deal that wants to get with it and we haven't been the fortunate ones since our incredible Friday. Anyhow, on a lighter note, the bronzing offshore is just top notch. Gosh it's nice. Beautiful weather has been a big bonus and we're hoping to finish off the trip with a bang tomorrow and fill up with some tuna fish to go along with our weather. Wish us luck tomorrow and don't go chasing waterfalls.

Mark's Hardhat Update:

Mark has been issued the hardhat on two separate occasions for two minor offenses for a total of ten minutes of helmet time thus far. There's still time for him to commit a major penalty and be forced to an all day helmet show. Fingers crossed.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an update from the San Diego, CA. Today we had 22 anglers catch 5 yellowfin tuna. 4 of our tuna are 75 pounders. Please bring a 20 lb. bait Rod and size 2 hooks as well as a 50 lb bait Rod with some 3/0 circle hooks. We will fish for whatever we see. It may be 12-90 lb. yellowfin or it may be 60-200 lb. bluefin. Very weird year !

Happy Easter! I have decided to put some ultra limited load open party trips together for fishing the northern Channel Islands this weekend. I have set up two trips on Saturday and Sunday the 10th and 11th of April. I anticipate trying to find sea bass in the morning and falling back on rock fish and ling cod for the rest of the day. These trips will be limited to only 20 people max!! This just seems to me to be such a great opportunity to get out to the islands on such a nice boat without having to deal with a crowd. The trips will depart from Sea Landing in Santa Barbara at 9pm Friday and Saturday night. The cost will be $175 per person. Please come join me and the crew aboard the Apollo next weekend. We have had some great fishing this morning. Including nice sized lingcod and trophy reds. We are also getting some action on the bank rockfish too.The SAT TV is ready for the football games and we look forward to seeing who wins in today's playoff games.

The Apollo fished at San Miguel Island today for limits of Rockfish and 18 lings plus one nigh Halibut. The SFR Apollo trip is scheduled for next weekend. We are a go and only have 7 spots as of the time of this post. Sign up now by clicking on fishing trips.

Good evening, friends. Typical arrive/depart day for us on the Supreme today. We unloaded a beautiful catch of RSW-fresh yellowfin, bluefin, yellowtail, and dorado up to the top of the docks, unloaded the Joe Beck/Bob Vance group, headed to the fuel dock for fuel as well as an oil and fuel filter change, loaded up lots of groceries, and brought on the Garry Roberts group as well. After clearing the point with a decent load of bait, we enjoyed lunch, rigged tackle, and took some naps. A normal travel day for us with the exception of taking an hour at the end of the day to try and catch a few bluefin tuna. We didn't connect on any shortfins, so we continued our journey south and feasted on our standard prime rib departure meal. That's our day in a nutshell. Our weather is flat calm, sunny, and we're digging every second of it. We've gone from farmers tans, to tank top tans, and now it's time for a full-on shirtless bronze for this 9-day adventure.

Anyhow, to start our trip off, we'll be giving the offshore yellowfin/bluefin scene a try on Friday with the hopes of connecting with some of that better grade of fish. We're just going to take things day by day and we're closely monitoring Hurricane Ileana and her whereabouts. We'll chat with you tomorrow and fill you in on our day and our plan for the next.   Well, we started off in the hot yellowtail zone this morning.  Us and 4 of the other long range boats.  I'm not at all going to call it a bust, it just wasn't what we were hoping/expecting.  Things were a little on the slow side.  It perked up for a little while but it was short lived.  It wasn't bad.  I mean we caught almost 50 yellows there before lunch.  And they were nice ones too, let me tell you.  26 pound average is my guess without weighing a single one.  Maybe 28, OK.  But by lunch it was done, done, done.  So we got mobile.  It wasn't for a few hours before we found something worthy to shut down on.  We found a kelp and caught another 25 beautiful tails.  I mean beauts.

  

 

So we can't complain.  75 gorgeous  yellowtail today to go with flat calm, sunny weather.  I can think of many, many days out here where I would have paid plenty for a day like we had today.  We're making that move while we still can.  We'll be getting our Island on tomorrow.  Hopefully we can put some more quality yellows on board and fish our last couple days up there in tuna land.

  Getting to know your crew:  Mark didn't inherit his eating habits from his dad.  Nope.  Mr. Clark himself is out here in the flesh and I've bussed his plate twice now and I haven't seen a finished plate by a long shot.  Mark would never.  Especially now with him being hungry all day and all with the diet.  Oh, and I guess I have tendonitis in my Supinator muscle which is awesome  Stoked.

  Matt Hess?  Shame on you buddy.  I'm supposed to give you a shout out here and I don't even no what to say to you I'm so disappointed.
