Yesterday we had a travel day. It was a little bumpy and choppy coming up the line. The passengers just relaxed and enjoyed a fresh tuna sandwich and Ceasar salad for lunch and for dinner we were treated to crab stuffed chicken on rice with a black bean sauce and grilled squash on the side. Really good. This morning we are still traveling and it is still bumpy. It looks like it is nicer up above and we should have a nice afternoon and a few hours of fishing before we have to head in. We will be a the dock at 6:00 am Wednesday morning.
We have a last minute cancellation on our trip that departs tomorrow. It is Don Fischbeck's annual 5 day charter. Give Susan or Don a call if you can get away and come fish.

Aug. 24

The tuna fishing offshore today was a bust. It shows how unpredictable tuna fishing can be on a day to day, week to week basis. We've told you before not to book based on the latest fishing reports and usually it's when fishing has been slow and all of a sudden busts out wide open. In this case it is the exact opposite. Yesterday there was some stellar fishing for a boat in an area and this morning all 9 of us boats were up at 4 in the morning drooling with anticipation of a wide open day soon coming. Unfortunately it never came and a couple hours after day light every boat picked a different direction and searched for where the fish swam off to. They were not found most likely because they didn't move, they were just down today. They could very well be in the biting mode tomorrow and it wouldn't surprise me a bit. It wasn't a total loss today. I mean we weren't skunked or anything like that but it just wasn't near what was advertised.

My point is if you're on any upcoming trips todays report means nothing to what is in store for your trip. Like Forest says, fishings like a box of chocolates.

 

Mr. Tommy Rothery will take the next voyage out while I go home to see my two ladies. Ones my dog domino. Miss you both.

Hello Supreme fans. We have finally hit our stride and started fishing.Unfortunately it happened to be right in the midst of some extremely tough fishing. Our first trip of the year was an Open party three day trip. We spent the three day searching the ocean for biting tuna as well as some inshore action. The tuna fishing was really slow but full of lots of spots of fish, and they were BIG. Bluefin well into the 150 lb class were around but not biting. We chipped away at some inshore fish and were able to put together a nice catch of quality Reds and Lingcod from the bottom. However the star of the show was hands down the jackpot fish. A 130lb Bluefin Tuna, a hard earned fish that ended in victory! These fish were big and did not make it easy to hook them or land them. Their size, abrasive teeth, and unwillingness to bite created quite the challenge.We did managed to hook 5 fish and only landed one. We are out on a two day after Independence day. Wish us Luck! "Just what we had hoped for!" reported Owner-Skipper Tommy Rothery aboard the Polaris Supreme November 26. "We had a really fun day on some of the bigger grade yellowfin. We landed nine fish over 100-pounds. Charlie got one at 213-pounds and Gunnar, one of our first timers, got the biggest one for the day that weighed in at 230 pounds. He did it all by himself from start to finish. And by the way, he is only eleven years old. He also landed another one that was well over 100 pounds. Our weather is fantastic. We are hoping for another fun day tomorrow."

Fresh and Fast! Recently we have been doing a lot of quick turnarounds to try and maximize fishing time for our clients. Recently we had a beautiful 200 lb Bluefin Tuna donated to the boat. Thanks to Sean and the people of Fishermans Processing we were able to have the Tuna filleted, packaged, and returned to the the boat in time for an early departure. Because of this our passengers were able to enjoy fresh Bluefin Tuna sushi on our way down the following trip.
