Today our 24 anglers landed 7 bluefin tuna from 70-85 pounds. First time anglers, seasoned anglers, captains, crewmen and all the way up to our office personnel. Nobody is off limits when it comes to the frustration and lack of sleep that a bluefin can create. However, if you stick with it, come prepared and keep an open mind. You will eventually be rewarded with a fish of a lifetime.

Hi friends. We just wrapped up an epic day and a half trip this morning. Drew really set the stage for this two-day trip that we departed on this afternoon.

On Thursday, we landed 16 bluefin before we even rubbed the boogers out of our eyes and from there we picked and scratched on various jig strikes on yellowfin and kelp paddy fish. A little after lunch, Gunny spotted a kelp that wrapped up our day on yellowfin and dorado. Awesome fishing in flat calm weather. Beautiful. The "blackhawk" strikes again. It really was a fantastic trip and we're hoping for more of the same tomorrow. Oh yeah, we also caught 4 slug albacore. Call Susan and book your spots for 2013 ASAP! Do it.

 We missed again this morning folks.  I'm not very happy about it, but I've excepted it.  We've definitely put in our work this trip.  Not necessarily physically these last couple days but mentally for sure.  I am drained.  We didn't want to spend another afternoon like we spent yesterday so we left the grounds and fished the Coronado Islands this afternoon.  We didn't see much yellowtail.  Myself or the other long range boat here.  I heard some good analogies this trip by other captains on the radio that I'd like to share.  Looking at the fish reports is like watching sports center.  They keep showing you all the top tens, but they almost never show the other Joe's, and sometimes you're the bug, and sometimes you're the windshield.  Most guys the last couple days have been the bugs.

 There have been quite a few firsts for me lately.  First of all I've never spent this much time fishing this close to home other than my 3/4 day days..  I have never been anchored up right outside the harbor on the second night of the trip.  We were there catching bait.  I've never captained the boat to San Clemente or the Coronado Islands.  There's probably more.  Oh yeah, I've never seen the 5 freeway from the boat.  Mark thought it was a bird school.  In his defense, I had to give it a double take too.

 So that's it.  We're going home and we'll be leaving for 5 tomorrow.  Tommy is coming back out so he'll be deciding where to go.  I'll tell you though, it's tough to pass on this fish.  Unfortunately for us, it's the best grade of tuna around.  It's great for the 1/2 day boats though.
       

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 10-20-2019 The Polaris Supreme arrived nice and early yesterday with the AHI Charter unloading a beautiful catch from down south plenty of Wahoo beautiful grade Tuna and Dorado! We were able to get out nice and early on our eight day open party trip with a fun group of regulars. Our traveling down was good yesterday as well as it is today. Of course the usual seminar on tackle and technique with a lot of rigging napping and eating some good food is going down today. Because of our early departure and making good speed we should be into the fishing grounds at a good hour tomorrow. Things sound a little scratchy at the moment but it looks like it has good potential for improvement. That's all for now we will check in with you tomorrow after hopefully a good day of fishing. Today we departed on a 5 day Guadalupe Island trip. We got a very early jump and are loaded up with a great load of bait. We are all excited to get fishing and are hoping we do not encounter too many of these Guadalupe Shoulder mounts, courtesy of the resident sharks.

It was a nice warm sunny day traveling today. There is still a pretty good swell with a wind wave on top of it, but it has swung behind us and our ride is great. The guys spent the day relaxing except for George and Craig who spent the afternoon doing laps around the deck and push-ups. They probably felt they needed to work off all the home cooking we have been eating today. Huevos Rancheros for breakfast, chicken fried steak for lunch and dinner, beef stroganoff. Of course sashimi for hors d'voures. Twenty four more hours to go. See you tomorrow.
