31 bluefin 72 yellowtail. Beautiful weather and some very fun island fishing. Flylined baits on 25lb line, surface iron and yoyo jigs all produced.

Hi friends. Tough day for us down here in the magical kelp paddy zone. The weather gave us fits all day but we did manage to scratch a day together. The weather was workable but not favorable with 18 knots of wind and a short, medium-sized wind chop. I had trouble going any kind of northerly or westerly direction most of the day for fear of soaking our mast-man.

Even with the weather, we managed to catch 60 yellowfin tuna, 19 yellowtail, 17 dorado, and some skipjack off of a few jig strikes and multiple kelp paddies. We saw good water structure and found plenty of beautiful kelps but all we found were either scraps from other boats or the fish we did see, were just reluctant to latch on to our hooks. All in all, I'm happy with our day and I feel that we were right on par for the boats in the area. Guys have been fishing the same kelps for days and days --either in the local zone or this lower zone-- so I felt the need to get on something fresh and get away from the glob of boats in the area. It kind of panned out but like I said, I'm happy with our day --weather considered-- and our group hung tough with the sloppy weather.

So that is all. We'll be returning to the docks tomorrow sometime between 11:00 and noon, and we'll be turning around for another day and a half trip tomorrow evening. The weather is projected to come down and now all we have to worry about is getting a load of bait that doesn't die eighteen hours later. Take care and we'll chat with you tomorrow.

There has been excellent bluefin fishing at 120 to 150 miles the last few days! In response the POLARIS SUPREME is putting the follow two day trips on line to specifically target these fish in this area as well as the yellowtail on the kelp patties in that zone.

22 passengers on todays boat. We hauled in a catch of 30 yellowtail and 40 bonito. Capt. Matt Bralla and the boys enjoy some quality Fall yellowtail fishing. Come and get in on the “Locals summer”.

We have a few open spots on this weekends 2.5 day charter to Colnett and surrounding areas! We had good signal on yellowtail this last trip, and ended up with 55!! To go with wonderful rock fishing and shallow water lingcod!! These trips are set to early depart at 5pm for maximum fishing time!! Here comes the 2008 season and I have some openings to share with you.  The First is a trip with the phiscadores, this is a 2-day which departs on Sunday night, June 22nd.  This trip takes a light load.  Usually 12 or 15 people. Hi friends. Tough day for us here on the high seas. No sugar-coating anything today, it was a slow day. We saw multiple good schools of yellowfin but Tropical Storm John really has things screwed up down here. We only managed a few handfuls of yellowfin in the 12-35 lb. category along with a couple of nice bluefin and a few various bottom dwellers for our final tally. Like I said, no shortage of fish running around but they are just not cooperating all that well.

We're hoping for a banner day tomorrow as the weather is supposed to straighten out and be flat calm and sick hot. I was a hot little potato today even though it was rather windy and choppy. We can only hope tomorrow that it snows or something because it is going to be a scorcher. Bronzing isn't even an appropriate word for what we did today, we got down-rite ethnic with our tans today. My goodness it was hot. Speaking of hot, our team in the galley is hot. Schooler and Shawn, aka "The Dream Team" are just magnificent. Along with the world's greatest deckhand, they really are the heart and soul of this operation and I feel that it is a pleasure to not only be worthy enough to eat their creations but to also know them as people. Thank you, Schooler and Shawn, thank you for making my life so wonderful and all of the passengers too. You're so dandy and thanks for getting us fat.

Anyhow, our fingers are crossed for tomorrow and yours should be too. Pray for snow and lots of tuna. See ya.

Well, we had a great day today. Everybody had a blast fishing lots 60 -100 lb. tuna. Pat Jaeger landed a 195 and a 213 pounder. Chuegy pulled in a 225 pounder. There were a couple more around 165 or so. We did stop at lunch for a delicious pork shank with spiced white beans and saffron pilaf. It was really good. And our weather is also good.
