Tommy Rothery docked his Polaris Supreme at Fisherman's Landing August 22 after the season's best tuna trip to Guadalupe Island. There were 24 anglers aboard the first Dan Heil Memorial trip. "I felt like he was there with us," said son and chartermaster Ron Heil. "He would have really enjoyed this trip." Tuna fishing was excellent for the group, so much so that Rothery was able to give the spot up to Art Taylor and the Searcher. "We had plenty of tuna," said Tom, "all we needed. The sharks got some of them." Steve Patterson of Grants Pass won first place for a 103-pound yellowfin. "My best tuna ever," he said. Patterson used a sardine on a 4/0 ringed Gorilla hook tied to 40-pound P-Line and 65-pound Izorline Spectra backing, on an Avet LX reel and a Rogue Rod of seven feet. "He slaughtered me," added Patterson. "I couldn't get my new rod off the rail. He tore up the cork and the diamond wrap." Don Pieper of Arroyo Grande was second for a 72.6-pounder, and Buddy Bales of Spokane, WA won third place, for a 72.2-pound yellowfin tuna. The season's 12th wahoo from Guadalupe was included in the catch.

Captain Mike Pritchard called in tonight with an update. We finished our trip with 26 Bluefin Tuna, 91 Yellowtail and 2 Dorado. There were some better scores on the Bluefin Tuna if you were in the right spot. So things are looking good out here. We have a trip leaving tomorrow night. Polaris Supreme Trip Update 11-30 To 12-01-2018 Getting a little behind on the reports. This is our report for the 30th and the first. We departed Guadalupe and traveled all day on the 30th to Ensenada to check in. Our weather was pretty nasty but our ride was not that bad due to the fact that we headed straight in for Colnett on the coast and then turned up toward Ensenada after the weather got better. The port of Ensenada was closed due to weather so The Port Capt. had us all signed releases to allow us departure. The weather going up to San Diego was not that bad at all there was plenty of space between the swells and it was a pretty decent ride. We cleared San Diego customs around 5 AM and were unloading in San Diego by 530. What a absolute beautiful catch we had of that yellowfin tuna from the island. We did our usual quick turnaround and are out now on a seven-day OTR charter to Guadalupe. We did our check in at Ensenada and will be at the island around 230 tomorrow afternoon. Boats that are fishing there right now have excellent sign of 80 to 150 pound tuna. Wish us luck the Polaris Supreme Crew !

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-17-2016 Hello Supreme Fans, We started off our day fishing looking for yellowtail. It didn't take long for the first one to come aboard, But it was short lived so we pulled the pick and made a 6 hour move which proved to be a good one! As the boat settled back on the anchor, We had several bent rods and the yellowtail charging the boat. The rest of the day we had steady yellowtail fishing until first call for dinner . During dinner we got the word that the yellowfin tuna were on the chew, and now we our on the hunt for them! The Supreme Team
