1770 Fishing Report 2024

Well guys, we have thrown in the towel on our offshore season. I would first like to start out by thanking everybody who has come out with us this past season. To our loyal regulars, thank you very much for continuing to support us even though we were very crowded at times this past year. To our new customers, I hope we met all your expectations and look forward to fishing with you in the future.

Welcome to the San Diego family. 2012 has been a season I won't soon forget. From starting our season in La Jolla to getting kicked out of the Coronado Islands and then experiencing the best offshore fishing we have seen in years. This past season was a very unique one.

Here are our plans for the next 4 months. Since we are still unable to fish the Coronado Islands, we will be fishing in U.S. waters from the border up to Oceanside. These trips will be available Friday thru Monday and will depart at 7:00 a.m. and return around 4:00 p.m. the cost will be $80. These trips will target a wide range of fish. Yellowtail, white sea bass, calico bass, sandbass, halibut, sheephead, rockfish and rock cod will all be on the menu. I will put together a suggested tackle list in the next few days. We will do everything in our power to make sure we have live squid available on these trips.

Coronado Islands: rest assured that our issues at the Coronado are being worked on tirelessly by both Countries involved. I will keep everybody posted on any new developments. As soon as we are able to return to the islands you will be the first to know.

Sunday, July 7th, 2013

Hello friends and a very happy Sunday to all of you back on the beach. We departed Fisherman's Landing around 14:00 hours today on the Joe Beck/Mal Wagstaff 6-day adventure with plenty of familiar faces and a few new ones to spice things up. Our stop at the bait receiver went a little bit better today and although it's not the best bait we've ever seen, it's a lot better than what we loaded up on Tuesday. At this point, we'll take it and we'll be keeping a close eye on their well-being throughout the night.

Other than that, we've been enjoying a nice ride out to the Bluefin grounds and our activities have been pretty standard for a departure day. Rigging tackle, napping, eating, seminars, and catching up with old friends and new ones alike. Chefs Schooler and Shawn just finished up the dinner serving of prime rib, baked potatoes, peas, and sorbet for dessert.With that being said, we're going to cash in for the evening and get ready for tomorrows fishing adventure to begin.

We'll be in the upper end of the Bluefin zone around mid-morning and the scores for the boats in the area were decent. It sounds like that 50-70 lb. BFT was biting a little bit and a few schools of 25-40 lb. fish were around too, so we'll see if we can't get ourselves some of that.

Not too much to report today but hopefully tomorrow is a different story. We'll be at it tomorrow morning and we'll report back to you tomorrow evening. Take care everyone and wish us lots of luck.

We had an absolutely wonderful day fishing today. We had the most flat calm weather and the tuna fishing was as good as it gets. It was all offshore on sonar schools and meter marks. The fish were all 20-32 lbs. and few bigger. It was a good day to be on the water.

176 yellowfin tuna 2 skipjack tuna. Finesse bait gear has proven to be very important. Today’s high liners were fishing 15&20 lb and #4 & #2 live bait hooks. Keep a 40 lb rod nearby because we have had some short windows of aggressive fish.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. Today we fished the Coronado Islands and we our 51 anglers caught 78 California Yellowtail and 46 California Barracuda. We had a couple good shots today.

Good evening everyone, Today we scouted some new area for yellowtail. With some good looking water on the satellite image we searched near and far. Spot after spot we tried long and hard, and just couldn't seem to find the condition we were looking for. Eventually we ended the day with a very low count. We still have our sights set on yellowtail for tomorrow. So we will be trying a new area tomorrow morning! Wish us luck, Team supreme

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 07-28-2016 We finished up our trip today with some scratch yellowtail fishing all morning and then an afternoon of rock cod fishing, all in all a very successful day and trip. Thank you very much Mark Costello and fellow anglers for making it so. Were heading up in some beautiful weather and looking forward to our next group with Tom Chaparro and his limited load of only 18 anglers.We still have openings on our four-day trip after Tom's five day if you would like to come out fishing with us! We are hearing signs of yellowfin tuna that actually wants to bite. We are excited to give it a try here on Tom's trip. And no Mark Castillo group it's not the local stuff! Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this evening with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay. Today we had 19 anglers catch 13 Bluefin Tuna. The best way to get a bite was finesse live bait rigs (20 lb floor #2 hook) or an 80-100 gram flat fall. I would bring both your heavy outfits and large flat falls for the bigger Bluefin Tuna.
