wi dnr Fishing Report 2025

We have only 5 spots remaining on our June 1-6, 5.5 day trip! This trip is limited to only 18 passengers and is filling quickly!! Trip departs at 6pm May 31st, and returns 6am on June 6th. We will be fishing Cedros and Benitos targeting Yellowtail and calico bass. As well as fishing offshore for those early season bigger bluefin tuna! Ticket cost is $1300 per person. July 17
    Our morning started off hot.  We had some very good tailing for about 1 1/2 hours on the 16-22 pound grade.  We managed to get a few fish per rod in that amount of time frame before things went dead around 8:30.  It's OK, we were expecting that.  We stuck with the plan and looked for yellowfin after that and it wasn't long before we connected.  We had 2 good stops and one great stop on the yellowfin tunas and scattered small stops the rest of the day.  They were a bit on the small side but that's what's around here so we fished them.  After that we drove out of the zone to put ourselves in position for tomorrow and didn't catch much the rest of the day.

    We'll be tailing it again tomorrow looking for the bigguns down below first thing in the morning.  The weather this morning was great.  It got a little windy in the afternoon but it was OK.
                                

 

This year is my 20th straight season operating a boat at the Coronado Islands. The fishing that is happening right now is the best I have ever seen. Boats from 10 ft to 124 ft all drifting and getting them. Don’t miss out on this amazing display of bio-mass. Please be responsible and only keep what you need. Have fun, be responsible and help a kid or a beginner. The guys are getting them again this morning. 75+ out of their first stop.

Now this was the real deal today. Nothing short of epic cow fishing. Scott released a 110 lb., 170 lb. 180 lb., another 110 lb., 175 lb., and a 150 lb. tuna. He kept a 220 lb., and a 250 lb. tuna. Bob released a 180 lb., 130 lb., 190 lb., and kept a 220 pounder. Al released a 190 lb., 125 lb., 185 lb., and a 140 pounder. Craig released a 135 lb., 150 lb., 145 lb., 180 lb., 190 lb., another 180 lb., and kept a 190 lb., and a 193 pounder. Roger released a 110 lb., and kept a 204 pounder. Sheridan released a 125 lb., 170 lb., 150 lb., 160 lb., and 190 pounder. Tom released a 110 lb., 160 lb., 150 lb., 185 lb., and kept a 221 lb., and a 205 lb. tuna. George released a 120 lb., 130 lb., 100 lb., 185 lb., 180 lb., and another 100 lb., and kept a 205 pounder. Wow what a day. We're all just shaking our heads at how wild it was. Lunch was calamari with a red sauce and dinner was veal chops. We'll see you tomorrow.

~~Sep. 7 "Feeling Better"
 I can't say I had the highest of hopes for this morning.  It seems like up and down this whole coast in the mornings has no current.  As you know, no current = no fish.  So we bailed on our yellowtail spot after 8:00 am and went kelping.  I believe we found our first winner ohhh around 10:00 or so.  It was good for 20 dorado.  Another 1/2 hour later we found another that was good for another 20.  Another 1/2 hour later... and so on and so on.  We had a good day of kelping.  Most of our passengers on board have never been in a dorado bite before today.  It was jaw dropping for them.  Lots of fun.  We're feeling better. 

 Now we're going to catch our yellows.  We're going to head into the coast for tomorrow and try and get a bunch of those.  See?  I write short reports on good days.  Hopefully I keep them short.
     

Capt Mike Pritchard from the Tribute letting us know they still have a few spots left on tonights 1.5 day trip departing out of Seaforth landing departing at 8pm. Looks like the weather will be great this weekend, there have been some yellowfin around we know where the Bluefin are and they should start biting at any given time.  Well today went as expected.  We woke up on the anchor after a lovely nights sleep and shortly after daylight we started scratching tuna.  It didn't take long to meet our quota.  Some already had it and were dropper looping for yellows and getting a few.  Anyways a little after 7 we pulled anchor and trolled around for wahoo.  One  more than half the boat caught a wahoo by lunch time and we took off for Alijos Rocks.  We traveled the rest of the day while we looked for something floating with dorado under it but we never found anything as expected.

 So like I said, we'll be at the stones in the morning.  We're going to try for some more wahoo before starting north to finish off our trip.  You never really can have enough wahoo.  There is 2 or 3 passengers left on board who have not caught a wahoo so we're going to make sure they get one before anyone else tomorrow.  We call it the troll of shame and Glenn, if you're reading at home, I always think of you when we do this.
         

 

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 07-31-2016 We were all over the place yesterday we started off in the morning fishing yellowtail at one island with massive spots of bait and birds that were sitting on the water doing nothing with no signs of yellowtail. That didn't last long before we moved to another island for similar results basically no catching. After that we took off offshore and had a little bit of success on kelp's with Dorado and Yellowtail and that wound up our day! Throughout the day of we obviously had in mind catching yellowtail at one of the locations we frequented but in the back of our mind was our destination for tomorrow the local yellowtail kelp patty fishing grounds where the guys are just sleighing them! We got some beautiful weather and will be there tomorrow wish us luck. The Polaris supreme crew
