washington river Fishing Report 2025

46 bluefin 6 yellowtail. One stop can make or break your day, and today we were one of the lucky ones. Flylined baits on 30-40lb line and a size 2-1/0 hook worked best. We still recommend having a 40-60lb rod to fish either a sinker rig or jig.

I have the Apollo in Santa Barbara again for the spring Channel Islands season. We are chartered on most of our weekend dates but here are a few options if you would like to get out fishing with us while we are up north. First we have a 2-day charter coming this weekend (Sat and Sun March 29/30). This regular charter group only takes 15 people and they are short 2 spots. We started off the morning with a few strikes on sonar schools of yellowfin tuna. We thought we were on the right track but things soon slowed down to virtually nothing. A few of the guys were seeing schools up above us, big schools but weren't producing much more then we where. We went and check those out and it looks like there schools of bluefin with a little bit of yellowfin mixed in it of course the bluefin don't bite. We spent part of our morning looking at eight giant kelp patties for two bites on yellowtail which we lost. Right now it's about 2:10 we have 20 yellowfin on board and were wondering where in the heck they're all at. We have good weather and six more hours to look wish us luck.

As the temps drop, we are finding the bottom biters are biting at our local spots. Lingcod and Reds with a mix of other great tasting fish. We have been seeing Yellowtail on a daily basis as well.

Captain Ryan Bostian called up early this morning with an update from "The San Diego" out of Seaforth Sportfishing in San Diego, CA. We got in really late last night so we were unable to call in a report. However, we had very good Bluefin Tuna fishing for tuna in the 20 to 40 pound class. Our group of 30 anglers ended up with 54 Bluefin Tuna. We did see some bigger fish jumping around but we did not hook any. The 20 pound bait rod was the ticket with a 1o or 2o circle hooks.
