POLARIS SUPREME TRIP REPORT 09-13-2020 We are just rolling down in great weather. The usual rigging going on. We will be hitting it hard tomorrow. Thanks for checking in The Polaris Supreme Crew! --

27 yellowfin 21 bluefin 27 yellowtail. Shoulder and belly hooked baits work best when fishing picky tuna. The second picture shows where to place your hook. The baits pictured are also a prime example of what a bad bait looks like, taking your time and selecting a good healthy bait will get you more bites.

Sept. 29

Well today was more of the same. We woke up to coffee, machaca and eggs and a Tom Cruise movie. Then we rigged up our heavy gear and did our tuna seminar. Then we trolled it up for a bit and looked at a couple of kelps for some neck tie size dorado which we let go. Then we had a nice taco salad and some kind of a room temp soup which was good and then some chose to take a nap while others chose to listen to football and do what guys do while we listen to football. After that it was dinner time and then a quick nap before arriving to the bait grounds at 11:00 PM. Bait fishing wasn't a great success but we did manage to catch 13 nice size squid that will fish beautifully on the kite. Hey, that's 13 200+ pound tuna as far as I'm concerned. Now everyone is in bed and I'm up driving and writing this.The weather couldn't be better and we're about half way there so a little more relaxation before we get down and dirty for several days straight.

We worked hard to get our hundred fish today. Lots and lots of schools that didn't cooperate all that well. They were biting pretty good at the end with steady hook ups on the but hooked bait on the bow. We're grateful with the action and catch we got today. We'll be signing off for a little over a week. The next trip is a 7 day departing on October 7th. Take care then, bye bye now.

Capt Mike Pritchard called in from the Tribute to let us know that their 1.5 day trip is a go tomorrow night leaving at 7pm. We are hoping to take advantage of this weather window, the weather looks good for the next few days. We already have some good bait on board including some mackeral and sardines, so we are going to take advantage of this weather window. Beautiful weather, sunny, warm and calm. This is the last traveling day. We will be arriving at 10pm tonight, just a few more hours to go. While you're bringing in the New Year, we will be trying to catch 200lb. tuna. The guys feasted on teriyaki yellowtail fillet burgers and bow tie pasta salad for lunch. Rib eye steaks and baked potatoes for dinner, and yes sushi and sashimi for hors d'oeuvres. Happy New Year from Tommy, the crew and the anglers.

Hello everyone, Last night was awesome for Yellowfin tuna, the guys stayed up most of the night into the early hours of the morning catching these good grade tuna. When daylight came we did not have the same luck on the tuna. However we did manage to land some Wahoo. Hopefully tonight we have a similar experience with the tuna. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Our private charter had to display some good old fashioned patience today. In a typical 3/4 day trip we can expect to make about 3-5 moves thru ought the day looking for fish. Today however, we did not find what we were looking for until our 9th stop of the day. The rapidly changing conditions coupled with the short windows of biting fish have been driving yours truly crazy the past couple of days. Today's photo will show you why we have been putting ourselves thru such mental anguish. Todays final count for our 31 passengers is 11 yellowtail 20 calico bass 16 barracuda 7 rockfish. Our yellowtail today weighed 20-35 pounds and were biting the fly lined sardines the best.
