The tuna fishing offshore today was a bust. It shows how unpredictable tuna fishing can be on a day to day, week to week basis. We've told you before not to book based on the latest fishing reports and usually it's when fishing has been slow and all of a sudden busts out wide open. In this case it is the exact opposite. Yesterday there was some stellar fishing for a boat in an area and this morning all 9 of us boats were up at 4 in the morning drooling with anticipation of a wide open day soon coming. Unfortunately it never came and a couple hours after day light every boat picked a different direction and searched for where the fish swam off to. They were not found most likely because they didn't move, they were just down today. They could very well be in the biting mode tomorrow and it wouldn't surprise me a bit. It wasn't a total loss today. I mean we weren't skunked or anything like that but it just wasn't near what was advertised.

My point is if you're on any upcoming trips todays report means nothing to what is in store for your trip. Like Forest says, fishings like a box of chocolates.

 

Mr. Tommy Rothery will take the next voyage out while I go home to see my two ladies. Ones my dog domino. Miss you both.

"This trip was as planned," said Polaris Supreme skipper Drew Henderson at Fisherman's Landing October 15. "It went perfectly." He had just returned for a seven-day excursion south, with 24 anglers. Brian Henricks of San Pedro won first place for a 123-pound tuna. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 3/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, tied to 50-pound fluorocarbon leader, 50-pound pink Ande line and 65-pound Spectra backing on a Tiagra 20 reel and a six and a half-foot custom Shikari rod. "He kicked my butt," remarked Henricks, "for an hour and a half." Scott WEolff of Simi Valley was second for a 109.4-pounder, and he was tied by John Drnello of Templeton, who got his 109.4-pounder on 40-pound line. He said it was the first big fish of the trip.

Our good morning has continued on and it's been absplutely great fishing here." Mike continued, "So far we have limits of Yellowtail & 150 Yellowfin tuna. The fishing is very good, the kelp fishing is very good & there is really nice weather to go with it. The weather is supposed to continue for the next few days.

We scratched away at some excellent grade yellowtail today. Really nice quality. Most over 30 lbs. The weather is flat calm, gorgeous. Polaris supreme Trip date 08-01-2019 We got a nice early start today on Tom Chaparro's annual Windham / Wells Memorial eight day chart.This is a special limited to 18 anglers trip dedicated to the discriminating angler who likes comfort without a crowd! Our bait supply looks good and the weather traveling down was good all afternoon. Although it might be a little bumpy going the other way up swell back towards home.We have a lot of familiar faces on board and are looking forward to a fun trip with the boys. Wish us luck! Hello all of you readers. We departed on our Let's Talk Hook Up 4 day trip this afternoon and said some prayers as we headed to the bait receivers. So far as I write this I am still pleasantly pleased by the bait we got. It's still not a dynamite load of bait but compared to last trip we're holding our heads high. Only time will tell. Relaxing afternoon aboard the Polaris Supreme. The weather couldn't be better and it appears we should be blessed with another wonderful flat trip in the open seas.

It's 7 o'clock p.m. and I'm still not 100 percent sure of where we'll be tomorrow. I'm leaning towards starting off where we left off last trip. You'll find out tomorrow. Stay tuned.

Absolutely a great day of fishing. From day light on we had excellent fishing on school grade yellowtail. Our weather is good and everyone is having a great time.
