sebago lake Fishing Report 2025

Captain Ryan Bostian called in the afternoon with an update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. We have 80 Yellowtail (in the 15 to 20 pound class) at the Coronado Islands. They are biting on dropper loop, yo-yo jigs, and fly-lined baits.

Hello Everyone, Today we had another outstanding day of fishing. Lots of Bluefin in the 20-40lb range as well as some great grade Yellowtail. We spent the afternoon trying to make some bait for tomorrow. We caught Spanish mackerel pretty steady for a while before the wind forced us to head to the anchorage for the night. Tomorrow we will start by targeting Yellowtail and chasing big ones in the evening. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

Aug. 17
    Today almost went as planned except for the lack of yellowfin.  We were supposed to scratch pretty good at the yellowfin in the morning, like 40 or so and then get on that big bluefin, and then scratch out another 30 or so yellowfin in the evening.  Well we did the middle part but the numbers were lower on the sides.  We saw plenty of that yellowfin, it just didn't bite well.  On with the cool part.  We found a mega school of that 70-100+ pound bluefin mid morning.  It's been a long time since I've seen a mega school and every time I do I forget about the time before and I think it's the biggest school I've ever seen and that's how today was.  Of course it didn't bite, but for me up in the wheel house where I can see it well it was incredible.  Just the area of fish was monstrous, and when you add in all the shiners and thousands of black backs swimming through, it's amazing.  We fished it for 4 hours on different attempts.  On the first, the youngster Brendan hooked up and landed about an 80 pounder.  On the second, his dad Scott hooked up and lost it and we hooked and lost another one.  On the third, Scott hooked up again but this time he landed his 107 pounder. So far it's looking like we'll have a father- son jack pot.  On the next few tries we got no reaction so we let it regroup for a while and a couple hours later we found it again and we hooked two more and lost them both and we missed a bite on the kite.  We tried it one more time after that for no reaction before we left it for good.  We're going to fish again tomorrow.  We'll make a small move and relocate but as things are right now, we don't need much more yellowfin so we'll concentrate on the other kind of tuna.
                                    

 

Ryan Bostian called in from the San Diego with this report, "We're checking in live from the Coronado Islands, as of noon we have 14 Yellowtail on the boat. These fish are 15 to 25 lbs. They're located in shallow water so we are landing only about 1/2 of what we are hooking. Very good entertainment here this morning on a fly line sardine.

"We have a charter this Friday that has a few open spots. This charter will be departing at 4:00 AM. We are going to have plenty of fishing time on these Yellowtail near Coronado Islands. Hi friends. Tough day on the Bluefin grounds for us. We got on a spot around breakfast time and boated a kill box full of those school-sized Bluefins but after that, we never found anything worthy of our time and effort. With that, we bailed from the area and made a move to lower latitudes. The rest of our day was spent hitting various kelp paddies for mostly "neck tie" Yellowtail but we also found ourselves in a couple of stops on Common Dolphin for some 18 lb. Yellowfin tunas that hit the trolling feathers. All in all, it wasn't quite what we had hoped for but with the great weather we had going for us we gave it our all and the gang kept in high spirits throughout our day.

With that, we're headed down to do some Yellowtail fishing tomorrow. We'll see what happens. We'd like to get outside and get on some of that Yellowfin tuna that is biting a little bit but timing wise hitting the yellow's first fits in better. We'll chat with you tomorrow and have a fine evening.

Mike Pritchard called in with this report for the Tribute. "We're wrapping up the 1st Day of our 2 Day Western outdoor News Trip. We had great, great fishing today. We caught limits of Yellowtail, 90 Yellowfin tuna, 5 Bluefin, 9 Dorado & a sprinkling of Skipjack.

We're going to shut down for the evening and be back fishing for more tuna in the morning. This is really great fishing regardless of the time of year.

Polaris Supreme Report 07-26-2016 Hello everyone Today we really put the nose to the grind stone and had to work at these yellowtail. There are big fish around but they are proving to be very difficult to catch. Today we had 3 obstacles: slack current in the morning, hundreds of veracious baby yellowtail, and the famed sea lion. These mammals proved to be the toughest bout we encountered when it came to landing big fish. Many of the better quality yellowtail were lost to the sea lions including an absolute standout monster that would have went over 40 pounds. We were able to boat the fish, but not after the taxman left his mark on the portion of the belly. That aside we made out with a nice catch for the day, everyone was able to put tags on plenty of fish. It was a truly action filled day, full of hundreds of releases and hard fought battles with the sea lions with hard won success in the end. Especially our dark bite that went off right at dinner. That was all beautiful quality fish and no sea lions they were already on land sleeping. Hopefully tomorrow will be at least as good with a little less action on the sea lions . Hi friends. We arrived this morning to Fisherman's Landing on-time and unloaded our catch from the Joe Beck/Bob Vance 5-day trip and big fish honors go as followed: Dan "Re-Ride" Burns and Tim Dughi tied for first with their 30.4 lb. Yellowtail and Uncle Norman Wintjen took third place with his 23.4 lb. Yellowtail. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to Joe Beck and the gang for yet another great trip. We'll see y'all next year. Anyhow, we departed on Garry Roberts annual 9-day adventure and Garry has brought along with him the usual suspects and everyone is antsy to see what the southern-most destinations of Baja California Sur have to offer. For a little warm-up, we'll be giving the Bluefin/Yellowfin area a short try tomorrow morning before we continue on to greater points south. Wish us luck and we'll chat with you tomorrow.
