putah creek Fishing Report 2024

Hello everyone, Today we spent another day targeting quality Wahoo and school sized tuna. We did great, picking at the Wahoo the majority coming on live bait. The bombs and jigs seem somewhat dormant at the moment, but we're not complaining because fish are coming aboard! At times there is an incredible amount of life out here. From the Wahoo, Skipjack, Yellowfin, Triggerfish, and more. The volume of life makes it difficult to hook the targeted Wahoo and bigger Tuna. So there is quite a bit of weeding out of the small yellowfin and other species in order to get what we came here for. Aside from Tuna and Wahoo we had an unexpected jag of Dorado swim through today. We landed a handful of the larger models to add to the fall variety pack here aboard Polaris Supreme. We are heading up tonight in hopes of a Yellowtail topper tomorrow morning. Wish us luck! Good afternoon everyone reading. It was a turn around day today. Everything went smooth. We departed on our annual "Lets Talk Hook Up" 4 day trip this afternoon with a full load of passengers. The bait thing went smooth today as well. Good looking bait for us today. We're thinking we'll have no bait issues this trip unless we run out catching tons of bluefin but we welcome that. That's the best problem to have out here. It sounds like a slow day today in the bluefin grounds. I'd rather it be slow while we're at the dock then when we're out fishing though. We'll see what happens tomorrow and take it from there. The weather now is lovely but the weather forecast appears to be less then good. Let's hope they're wrong about that one. It's just about time for our tackle seminar followed up with the prime rib so I have to go.

Hello Supreme Fans, We started our morning off at one of the lower banks. Having talked to one of our code group boats that had fair fishing on bigger grade tuna. At first light we started to catch skipjack tuna and a few grouper. By mid morning we pulled the pick and started to go look around for that boomer school, and we found one! but it was not to be for us as the school didn't want nothing to do with us. After lunch we dropped the anchor and started to get some school size tuna to bite. We stuck it out there for the rest of the day and it paid off Tom Studley hooking and landing a 110 pounder. Just before dinner we pulled the anchor and headed for the bait grounds to restock our bait supply. Wish us luck. The Supreme Team.

Polaris Supreme Trip Update 12-06-2018 We took a break today from tuna fishing and concentrated mainly on yellowtail and had fair success. Mostly 14 to 15 pounder grade with a few 20 pounders thrown in. We have had a great time here at Guadalupe on our OTR seven-day but now it's time to head for home. So far our ride is beautiful in calm seas! We will be clearing Ensenada tomorrow around 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The Polaris Supreme Crew!

Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-18-2016 Hello Everyone, Today we had a fantastic day of offshore fishing! We got on a school of big yellowfin that bit all day! The best part was the grade, an average of 50 to 80 lb fish! Amazing to have such good size biting fish in striking range from San Diego in California waters. We had a blast today bringing these fish aboard. Many people finished the day with their personal best tuna in the hold! The hot ticket was a good fresh flylined bait, and in the afternoon we hit our stride with balloon fishing. The balloon was deadly during the latter part of the afternoon. Hi friends. Tough day out here for us on the local Bluefin grounds. The weather gave us fits all day but we did manage to get a few handfuls of Bluefin this morning and a few off of a kelp later in the day. There's not too much to say about what happened today. The weather made things rather sporty but we gave it our all and are happy that we at least had a few stops to show for our efforts. The gang hung tough and we appreciate that from them. They definitely treated the last day like the first.

At around 18:00 hours, we had to call it a trip and begin our end of the trip chores. Chef Shawn just kicked out the Fillet Mignon and crab cakes, Tommy put the slide show on the 50" flat screen, and we enjoyed our final dinner together. Paul's group is always a pleasure to fish/dine/chat with and we had a ball once again. We'd like to say thanks to Paul and company for being the bomb.

Anyhow, our ride is decent as we travel up towards home. We'll be into the docks at 06:00 hours and the guys will be turning around for another 5-day adventure. Look for Drew's reports to be sent out tomorrow evening. Take care.

Started where we have been catching Vermillions to find they were not in the mood. Moved to an undisclosed location and found very willing XL size Lingcod. Managed 2 to the boat and lost a few more. Good fun!!!

Hi friends. We departed this evening at 1800 hours on another day and a half trip with a group of eager anglers and the voice of Let's Talk Hook-Up, Mr. Pete Gray. We loaded up on a beautiful load of sardines at the receivers and although we didn't get a full load of bait, we have plenty and the load is very healthy looking. Let's hope that we have something to throw them at tomorrow. We'll be on the hunt for yellowfin and dorado on kelps but we'll also take an open-water sonar school if one happens to present itself. With a favorable weather outlook and a good load of bait, we're anxious to get down to the zone. We'll chat with you tomorrow.
