24 yellowtail 1 bluefin. Still fish around but the changing conditions have them acting up.

Captain Ryan Bostian called in this morning. We are operating 3/4 day trips everyday out of Seaforth Landing. The fishing at the Coronado Islands have been good for Yellowtail. We have also seen Wahoo at the Islands. A passport is required for all reservations for fishing at the Coronado Islands. "This trip was as planned," said Polaris Supreme skipper Drew Henderson at Fisherman's Landing October 15. "It went perfectly." He had just returned for a seven-day excursion south, with 24 anglers. Brian Henricks of San Pedro won first place for a 123-pound tuna. He said he bagged it with a sardine on a 3/0 ringed Super Mutu hook, tied to 50-pound fluorocarbon leader, 50-pound pink Ande line and 65-pound Spectra backing on a Tiagra 20 reel and a six and a half-foot custom Shikari rod. "He kicked my butt," remarked Henricks, "for an hour and a half." Scott WEolff of Simi Valley was second for a 109.4-pounder, and he was tied by John Drnello of Templeton, who got his 109.4-pounder on 40-pound line. He said it was the first big fish of the trip.

 Today was mostly a travel day for us.  We did have a nice little surprise in the morning.  We had a double jig strike on wahoo.  Then we had a couple more singles.  Then we had one more single a little later along with a few dorados.  When we got to the yellowtail grounds in the afternoon we found mucho wind.  It was blowing 25-30 knots right through the grounds we were planning on fishing so we fished elsewhere.  We found a little spot with some current before dark and we captured 6 cow yellows, we're talking 30-40 pounders, to go along with lots of 10-12 pounders and some bonito.  Action is what we call that.  We now have to head north and we'd like to find some dorado tomorrow.  It's going to be a bumpy/windy ride up tonight and we hope for it to back off tomorrow for our fishing and ride home.

Hello everybody. Good times this morning on the sea anchor. Biting bluefin tuna with a smattering of nice yellowtail to start off our day made breakfast taste that much better for everyone who attended the meal call. A half pound breakfast burrito tastes just a little better after pulling on fish for a couple hours after the sunrises. Anyhow, we had another decent day today of catching bluefin and yellowfin, mostly on blind jig strikes, and shaking off "neck-tie" yellowtail and dorado's to fill in the gaps when the tuna had their noses in the mud. For the most part, their noses stayed in that mud but when they did pop up, we made the most of it with some quality tuna fish.

Another solid day made for the decision to head coastal and see if we can't find us some yellowtail's with some size to them. We'll give this offshore scene another try later but for now, we're going to get out of the wind for a bit and give the anglers a change of scenery. We'll fill you in on our day tomorrow evening. Hi friends. Sorry about the lack of reports lately. We've been off the past couple of days as the weather put a delay in our final coat of gloss on the hull and with a break in the weather yesterday, the final coat was applied and it looks terrific. You can shave by looking at the boat and seeing yourself in the reflection. I'll send some photos when all the scaffolding is broken down and trucked away to show you some good shots at how good it looks. As for today, we proceeded back tour normal schedule of 0700 to 1600 hours and we're back to grinding and sanding. Our final major paint projects include the "bus stop", engine room hatch, bait tank and throwing new rock and painting the deck. With all hope, we should be back in the water sometime next week. Cross your fingers!

So that is all. Seeing that we've had the past couple of days off, we'll be working tomorrow to get everything set up to have the Strontium coat applied on monday to the bait tank, bus stop, and engine room access hatch. Hopefully, it won't be too long of day and we'll be able to arrive home in time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. We'll chat with you sometime in the next couple of days and enjoy your weekend.

Hi friends. Our final fishing day was spent pulling on big, beautiful yellowtail in the 18-25 lb. class with a couple of standouts here and there. These fish were hittin' on the yo-yo iron real nice and the guys are all worn out from all the crankin' they did today. It was a nice way to end the trip on a high note and at days end, we had to call it a trip and begin our trek back to San Diego. We'll be traveling all day tomorrow to arrive back to the docks on Saturday morning. The seas are beautiful at the moment and it's looking like we'll have more of the same for tomorrow. We'll report back with you tomorrow night.
