Hi friends. Sorry about the lack of reports lately. We've been off the past couple of days as the weather put a delay in our final coat of gloss on the hull and with a break in the weather yesterday, the final coat was applied and it looks terrific. You can shave by looking at the boat and seeing yourself in the reflection. I'll send some photos when all the scaffolding is broken down and trucked away to show you some good shots at how good it looks. As for today, we proceeded back tour normal schedule of 0700 to 1600 hours and we're back to grinding and sanding. Our final major paint projects include the "bus stop", engine room hatch, bait tank and throwing new rock and painting the deck. With all hope, we should be back in the water sometime next week. Cross your fingers!

So that is all. Seeing that we've had the past couple of days off, we'll be working tomorrow to get everything set up to have the Strontium coat applied on monday to the bait tank, bus stop, and engine room access hatch. Hopefully, it won't be too long of day and we'll be able to arrive home in time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. We'll chat with you sometime in the next couple of days and enjoy your weekend.

Well, today was just swell. We caught bluefin. Yup, lots of them. We found a school a little while after breakfast and stayed drifting till a little while after lunch. I've just now been staring at this screen for a few minutes drawing a blank on what to write. Mark just woke me up for my watch and I guess I'm not a midnight writer so I'll keep it simple. It was a lot of fun. The fish were in the 30-40 pound range with our spring scale calling the biggest at 49 pounds. After that school wouldn't bite anymore we went on search for another and found just a dandy of a school but it would have nothing to do with us so we search, search, search. About an hour maybe longer before dark we found what we were looking for and stopped the boat on a school of biting fish and had another nice shot at them before and into and after dark.

I'm going to have to give Tommy the credit for todays fishing. For a while today I thought maybe it was all about my lucky 7-11 cap I've been wearing but I think Tommy just did a good job of finding those schools today. Hat or no hat, we just nailed them today. The weather was good today and we're still drifting and my legs aren't very spread apart so you know it's good drifting and good sleeping. We're going to give it a little while tomorrow before having to call it a trip and head for home.

We got into the albacore grounds late in the morning. Most of the guys there already had a mix of around 30 albacore and yellowfin. We struggled and just couldn't find the right school until about 4:00 in the afternoon. Then it was wide open albacore fishing until 6:30. As we sat down to a superb dinner of Veal chops with Port and Mushroom sauce we reflected on what had started as a brutally tough day had turned into a simply great day! We will definitely stay here and try this again tomorrow. Thanks, Tommy

We had an awesome 1.5 trip on the Apollo out of Fisherman's Landing. We left Friday night at 7 pm and headed to Punta Colnett. Weather was very nice, calm and glassy. We started fishing for Yellowtail in the early morning but no biter. We preceded fishing for Rockfish. We drifted every hot spots that Captain JJ knew and they were all very productive. We came up with lots of good quality Vermilion Reds, Lingcod and Bocaccio Rockfish. At about 3 in the afternoon, Yellowtail breezers came through and all six of us got hooked with our rockcod gangnion hooks. We ended with two 25 lbs Yellows. Next time I'll be ready. We fished until almost dark and we bagged 125 Vermillion Reds, 98 Rock cod, 25 Lingcod and 2 Yellowtail for 25 guys. Captain JJ runs a top notch operation together with Jessica, Joe, Travis and Chef Nick. They were all very professional and helpful at all times. Chef Nick serves all variety of gourmet food on the boat. Apollo will be still running trips in Fisherman's Landing until end of March and will move to Santa Barbara on April. Captain Ryan Bostian called in tonight with an audio update from the San Diego out of Seaforth Sportfishing in Mission Bay, CA. Today we fished at the Coronado Islands. We had 47 anglers catch 117 Yellowtail. The water is nice and warm and the Yellowtail are biting on fly-lined sardines and the surface iron. We are online every day.
