A good finish to a good trip today. It started off a slow morning like every morning of this trip started off. It being the last day we just traveled north all morning to increase our fishing time for the day. We bumped into a school of those 50-70 pound bft's mid to late morning and drifted till we were out of time. We landed almost 30 of those beauts before we had to call it and head for the barn. The weather today was great and the ride going up is ideal. The fillet and crab cakes were delish and everyone is tuckered out but me but only because I have to be up.

Thanks again to the Heil group for coming out once again after all these years and creating another memorable trip.

It's been windy off southern Baja for a week or so, and it also blew a couple of days out at the Hurricane Bank. When Polaris Supreme skipper Drew Henderson looked out his wheelhouse window one day, he said it looked like Christmas, he could see so much white out there. At Fisherman's Landing December 4, Henderson weighed the catch for his ten-day anglers. There were tuna, wahoo, and dorado in good numbers. Bert Carlson of Long beach won first place for an 84.9-pound yellowfin, after the fish made a mistake with his sardine on a 5/0 Owner Offshore hook. He said he used 50-pound fluorocarbon leader and 65-pound hollow Jerry Brown Spectra on a Penn 20 T reel and a six and a half-foot Kencor rod. Chris Mohs of Ventura was second, for an 80-pound tuna, and Todd Cameron of Long Beach took third place for a 78.8-pound tuna. He also caught a tuna with an archival tag in it, which will bring him a $500 fee for the tag's return.

A fun action filled day today. We were offshore fishing tuna and yellowtails on kelps. Plenty of tuna sign but they were like they've been, reluctant to bite. We managed to land a couple per rod. The yellows on kelps produced better results. Good fishing on some 10-14 pounders, mostly 15-25 pounders. Again, the weather was absolutely gorgeous. We're going to be fishing Cedros Island tomorrow for those jumbo yellows.

Hello Everyone, Today we had an excellent day of fishing for both Yellowtail and Blue fin Tuna. The Yellowtail were all excellent grade 15-35 lbs, most of the Tuna were 12-20 lbs except for two standouts. One Close to 100 lbs and one well over 200 lbs. An excellent start to the trip with an incredible variety of fish. Hopefully it continues tomorrow. Wish us luck, Team Supreme

 Well good evening everyone.  We're out and about again this weekend.  If we book them, we will fish.  So we took the week off, handled stuff and showed up today at 3:00, fired everything up and she's running great.  We got our bait, which was straight anchovy, no sardine in sight they say.  That's OK for this kind of fishing.  We're headed out.  Tuna fishing.  See you tomorrow.
        
 

Aug. 27-28

Here's a 2 dayer for you all. I forgot to write yesterday's report due to my enthusiasm not being crazy high about it. So we fished in these bluefin grounds all day yesterday and for a few hours in the morning today for not much. Yesterday we were seeing sign of fish around. We didn't see any schools driving around but we'd get a meter mark and stop the boat and after a while we'd see a handful or two sometimes more come under the boat and sometimes we would get a few and other times we wouldn't but at that rate the final tally wasn't anything to write home about so that's probably why I didn't. Today wasn't better. I can't say we ever saw a fish even on the machines. We looked through the traditional area early for nothing then went that way for a while then we turned that way for a while and then we turned that way for a while and then we called it a trip. It means nothing for future trips the way this bluefin is. Tomorrow can be wide open. A hell of a trip anyways if you've been reading you'd know it. The boats clean and everyone on board is stuffed and rested. We'll be getting in at 6:00 in the am tomorrow and then we're departing on the 9 day! I'm really looking forward to it. Getting out of this cool August offshore weather and into the warm wahooey weather. As Joe Beck would say, "yeah baby". Captain Ray Montera took out 39 anglers today. Final fish count for the day was 6 lingcod 4 sheephead 80 red rockcod and full Mexican limits of rockfish. If you enjoy bottom fishing this is definitely the time for you. As soon as the yellowtail show up the rock fishing will take a back seat.
