Polaris Supreme Trip Report 08-24-2016 As reported yesterday it was a very tough day fishing. We spent the whole day stopping on spot after spot after spot. It got to a point where I thought maybe the passengers didn't think we were really seen fish. One of the things we noticed was where the yellowfin tuna was hanging out, even though it didn't bite It Turns out it was good Intel for today. It did pay off this morning, we ended up shutting down right at daylight on a really nice school that stuck with this until after lunchtime. The grade of fish was 35 to 80 pounds. We hung with it for about another two hours and it just wouldn't bite. After about three hours of searching we finally found where the fish had moved to while we were drifting all morning. We were rewarded with another afternoon bite equal to what we caught in the morning we ended up with a fantastic day of quality, I say quality yellowfin tuna. We also had in the mix by half a dozen nice grade bluefin tuna. We are heading in and going to drop off our Joe Beck charter and pick up Beverly and her group. Nov. 11

                Not a very good day for us today.  I wish I could call it a travel day too but we did a lot of fishing, just not catching.  Well, we did need to travel for 4 hours of the day to put us in position for tomorrow, so maybe I can call it a travel day.  Anyways, the weather today was pretty crappy when I first woke up and not much better when we arrived to our first fishing destination of the day at 7:00 AM.  That could be why the wahoo weren't there and biting.  But after 3 hours there, the weather was nice.  The wind backed off and the ocean flattened out.  Unfortunately 12 miles below there the current did a 180 and the wind picked up a little and things got jacked up.  The swell and chop were coming from every which way and we couldn't pick a smooth course.  We got our roll on for most the rest of the day.  Spot #2 looked like we could've caught a bunch of nice yellers but the skip jack wouldn't let us have any of it.  They were hitting everything we threw in.  That's alright though.  We needed the chunk for tomorrow.  We did get a few nice yellows though.

 

                After that we had a delicious cheeseburger and some took a nap during our 20 mile move.  I had high hopes for this place but it was not to be so we threw in the towel a bit before dark to make sure we give ourselves plenty of time to get to our next destination.  We'll be hunting for cows tomorrow.  We need a little luck and by that I mean good timing.  The fish need to be on the bank tomorrow for us because above here didn't seem like the answer for the last couple of days. 

 

                Mama Bear: Though we only caught a few wahoo today, your little rascal caught one of them.  His first wahoo.  I guess the ritual for that is a deck hose soaking?  I never heard of that but he got a drenching after that one.

So far this year we have had absolutely phenomenal yellowtail fishing as well as a better chance than ever, in the history of Southern California to catch a bluefin over 200lbs! We are excited to announce we have multiple openings on trips that will be targeting these big grade of yellowtail, nice yellowfin and trophy size bluefin! Hi Anglers,

Good afternoon. We canceled our 3-day trip over the weekend awhile back, and just got lucky and picked up a private charter today that booked the whole boat. So we will be on our way tomorrow afternoon to the land of milk and honey. The main thing that I wanted to get out though, was the phenomenal amount of fish spotted by the SAC spotter plane. Can't give out particulars because it's proprietary. But it's a lot of fish in close. We should literally get two full days fishing.

We're pretty excited and we will be updating the website from the boat.

So far I'm only set up to send out these personal reports when I'm at the dock. Hopefully we'll be able to do it from the boat soon. So keep track of us on the website until I get back. And by the way we still have open spots on our 5-day departing Monday July 23 and 2 spots on our 5-day departing July 28th. Come fish!

Just got here to the island. We have mostly been fishing the lower end of the island but we will be looking down the island in case the fish moved up! Wish us luck! 

Our private charter had to display some good old fashioned patience today. In a typical 3/4 day trip we can expect to make about 3-5 moves thru ought the day looking for fish. Today however, we did not find what we were looking for until our 9th stop of the day. The rapidly changing conditions coupled with the short windows of biting fish have been driving yours truly crazy the past couple of days. Today's photo will show you why we have been putting ourselves thru such mental anguish. Todays final count for our 31 passengers is 11 yellowtail 20 calico bass 16 barracuda 7 rockfish. Our yellowtail today weighed 20-35 pounds and were biting the fly lined sardines the best.

Captain Ryan Bostian checked in this morning at 6:02 AM with an update from yesterday’s trip aboard the San Diego!  We are on our way out Saturday morning.  We had a good trip yesterday.  We went out with 36 passengers and we caught 15 Bluefin Tuna.  Two of the Bluefin were 60 to 65 pounders.  The rest were 30 to 35 pounders.  There are also some bigger ones jumping around out there.  We also had a kelp for 74 Yellowtail and 26 big Bonito.

We are heading out right now there is a slight wind lump.  Call Seaforth now at (619) 224-3383 to get in on the action.

Bring a flat-fall rig and a bait stick.  We recommend a heavy stick for fat-fall and a 2 speed reel with 60 to 80 pound spectra and a short top shot.
